Exact same thing happened; company laid everybody off out of nowhere. But from where i was it was the same basic choice. Pay rent again, or be able to eat and job search. Unfortunately, as I think I mentioned, the only jobs left that I can actually get in my area are things like fast food or manual labor, both of which I cant do on account of my leg. But even then, if I end up taking a fast food job (which is likely unless the pandemic really fucks us), it isnt going to be enough to realistically get a place to live. My plans now (that have been screwed by COVID) were to focus on school and try to save up for a van so I could do the van life thing. Given what Ive been through all I want in my life right now is the safety of knowing that even if I lose a job Im not losing everything Ive built up. A van I turn into a mobile studio would be immensely awesome and is feasible for me to do if Im working. Between student loans (which Ive already had to give in to taking out beyond what I needed because of my work situation; i managed my first year without taking a single cent that I didnt need) and what Ill be able to put away from work, it shouldnt be too bad to get it going. And then once I complete school (i intend to go at least to masters) I can go from there. Fortunately for what I want to do its looking like theres going to be a lot of openings for it by the time Im eligible. Strange as it sounds I really dont mind being transient, and even if I never get up to a really fancy van, just having a bed I can sleep in every day that I dont have to worry about losing is going to improve my quality of life immensely.
