Asked about it 2 weeks ago and majority of thread said masks do nothing to protect you. Just wash your hands more often. Well now politician in my area saying you should wear masks when near people who are over 60 for example.

It stops you from spreading to others because if you sneeze or cough it goes into the mask.

They dont really protect you from the virus, but they can keep you from spreading it to others in case you have it without realizing it.

Yes it helps if worn probably

I don't think anyone really knows. Kind of hard to do a real scientific experiment on it, and 'experts' seem to be all over the place on it.

And overall my experience felt like those who weren't wearing masks/gloves were the weird ones. Like wearing protection either a mask, scarf, or pulling up your shirt over your face is the norm. I hadn't been outside in a while so didn't see when this started becoming a thing. So have no idea if it started small and then became the majority. Or just one day everyone came out like that.
