Not really. I love Metroidvania games but that one really missed the mark for me. I never really found it fun I just wandered all over hell aimlessly. Never felt like it gave any direction at and it wasn't particularly fun to explore

When each area is dominated by one color, you can't claim variety. Blue room 3 looks exactly like blue room 10. And yeah, if it stood out to me I'd hear the music in my head but as it is it's the name of an area and that's it.

Yeah, I hate that kind of thing. It kind of reminds me of Persona 4; the dungeons were some of the most bland, visually uninteresting things i've been through. It was one of the reasons I was never able to finish it, plus the repetitive "spam the weakness" combat.

I'm one of the few people that apparently exist that don't really care for Hollow Knight.

It's just far too long of a game. It's overly large and confusing. It gets pretty exhausting to play after awhile.

I get why people love it, it has huge amounts of atmosphere.

I dropped Hollow Knight once before in that 2-3 hour mark. Then I decided to pick it up again and loved it. I played Ori, but it's a joke compared to Hollow Knight. Ori looks great but HK has substance in my eyes and also looks great with a nice sound track. I've yet to play Ori 2 but when I do I may change my mind, a lot of people sound pretty excited about the whole thing. I wouldn't recommend HK to everyone, it is a rather difficult game and if you hate trying to learn a map or exploring well then it's not the game for you. A lot of people can be recommended Ori however since it's a simple and brightly colored friendly game.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps so far seems to be even better than the first game. Interestingly it's pretty clearly been influenced by Hollow Knight. At least a bit. Possibly part of why I think it's better so far.

Anyway, yeah no stand-out music and areas looking the same is a terrible take. What do you think of the boss fights though? I think the boss fights are probably one of the most important aspects of Hollow Knight. If those aren't grabbing you, it's understandable why the rest of the game isn't either.

That's a carbon copy attempt at shamelessly copying a Souls game. More like Lords of the Fallen. Doesnt have the same vibe as DS1. Feels more like DS2 from what I played.
