The levels of selfishness I've seen both here and on twitter disgust me.

There are people who dont have jobs right now. There are businesses that have had to cease operation overnight through no fault of their own to battle this. And you pricks want to hold up relief to these people so you can get debt you willingly took on erased?

If that person is you, you're a terrible person and should be ashamed of yourself

They could at the very least put an interest free halt on all loan payments then. These people who willingly took on debt, some of them are out of jobs because of this and those loan payments hurt

Not me, before you make this a personal attack. I'm just sympathetic to their cause

They've paused payments for two months, which I'm in favor for

That, is not what I'm talking about

Are you talking about student loans or any loans? Interest for student loans apparently is suspended for now.

If you want to relieve student debt, good for you. I think you're wrong.

Bottom line is now is not the time for that discussion. We need to get people through the next couple of months.

And dont speak so broadly. I used to work in the service industry, still know people who do. Not all of them took out loans to go to school.

They should absolutely get rid of student debt, but only if college becomes free for everyone. Otherwise its not fair at all

Freeing up hundreds of dollars a month would be very helpful during these times, ya know, cause as you've mentioned people are out of work and need cash.

TC you have NO idea how crippling student loan debt is to millions of millennials. I have 40k in student debt myself currently, 6 years out of undergrad. My monthly payments are around $600 alone.

You think if I lost my job, had to pay rent, a car payment, utilities, AND my student loan payment, Id be able to survive? No chance in hell.

Suspending loans for 2 months hardly helps when millions of people have lost jobs and will have zero idea how to pay these absurdly high loan payments.

Stop being ignorant and actually educate yourself about the subject youre spewing BS about.

I dropped out of school because my grant money ran dry and never took a dime out in student loans cause I'm not an idiot. And I actually had a major that probably would have worked out pretty well for me financially.

So no, only large amount of debt I've ever taken out in my life is my mortgage. Hell I'd love washington to take ten grand off the top of that if we're just throwing around handouts

Which is why interests on your loans has been suspended and payments are optional for the next two months.

So we good?

I mean, if the degree is going to give someone a job that significantly boosts income, then taking loans out, a reasonable amount, isn't a bad financial move.

Anyway, they probably should cancel payments for the next couple months if that's not something they're already doing

I've literally seen people say they dont want to see this bill go through if it doesn't include student loan forgiveness.

I can promise you those fucks are still working and aren't worried about paying their Bill's this month

I was working full time while going to school full time, with grant money that partially covered tuition.

Not saying I had the worst go of it, but dont sit there and act like mommy and daddy gave me a free ride. Cause that sure as shit isnt true
