Its a shame that the PS3 mostly killed the double A games scene due to the oblique hardware and the rising costs of development.

Now you mostly have only Triple A games and Kickstarter indie titles with little in between.

We were thinking of naming the baby Ellipsis, but it seemed so...typographical.

The entire 2600 library is somewhere in the realm of ten megabytes, including all of the "I can make video games too!!" carts from the 1983 crash.
Even Quaker Oats was making VCS games, for some reason.

They were hiding out on DS and 3DS the whole time.

Rare is also to blame for that.

No company ever took the risk in second party companies ever again after them

Microsoft bought them from Nintendo, Rare ended up sucking and not making Microsoft money. No one wanted to do second parties again after that.

The Stamper Bros wanted to retire, and offered their stake to Nintendo. Nintendo had a moment of clarity and realized Rare would quickly turn to shit without the Stampers.

Turns out, that's what happened. Kameo and Viva Pinata were pretty good, then Rare imploded.

No one wanted to do second parties again after that.
Retro made two or three really good Metroid games, depending on who you ask.
