2014 is when I first got Steam and my first Steam game Portal 1. Although I did play CounterStrike original because I got a HDD from someone and it had it on it in like 2005 for a little bit.

Played the Orange Box on the 360 from launch til spring 2008. Heard about the Medic update only for PC. Saved up money in the summer for a PC and brought the Orange Box in time for the Heavy update.

Member since November 22, 2003.

I remember watching my brother play Half-Life when it came out, and I especially loved some of the online maps.

So I bought this Half-Life collection box that had Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat (and maybe TFC and Ricochet, I don't remember).

Tried to get Counter-Strike set up, took me forever because I couldn't connect to any servers, and then everyone said I had to download Steam. I loved it, made updating games so easy. And that first CS match, on CS_Assault... man, I remember thinking I was gonna be so cool running through that ceiling vent and I got wasted so fast >_>.

3 Answers actually

Top one for when i first played a Steam game (HL2 on moms desktop)

Next for when i got my steam account (long story, but my school wanted us to play CS:S with eachother..)

And the third one for when i truly initiated said account with my first proper computer (HP Pavillion DV7 in early 2012)

I learned about steam by picking up mount and blade: warband (which came out in 2010) from best buy and discovering i needed to download steam. My first purchase off the steam store itself was 2011, so its got to be somewhere between 2010 and 2011.

There is going to be a new THE iDOLM@STER game for Steam, so it finally made me into making an account.

Of course, I've had a lot of fun. RE5, UMvC3, Tales of Berseria are all addicting games, Berseria even more so.

It was a weird time.

I preordered HL2 from gamestop of all places, then had to install steam to get it to run.

Holy shit people hated steam, during the HL2 vs Doom3 wars here on gfaqs, the existence of steam was a huge deal that the doom crowd constantly made fun of HL2 fans for.

Pre-Orange Box, for the Counter-Strike Anthology. I think I then activated the original Half-Life for some extra goodies, which was a nice surprise.

Supposedly you can activate Gunman Chronicles for some goodies too, but I can't find my discs and/or the CD Key.
