for me it was when i told my my friend i had feelings for her. had a crush on her all throughout highschool. last few years of hs just amped my game up a little. eventually ended up in a friends with benefits situation once highschool finished. for some dumbass reason decided to tell her how i really felt about her. well it ruined that whole dynamic lol

basically what happens when you reveal your hand to a girl that you are into them is that they bump you down into the back up bench . then they go for other unknown potentials cos they know they got you as a reserve if things dont work out. they may not do it intentionally but it just becomes a subconscious thing.

but yeah dont do it OP lol. You either show her you are into her via flirting etc and see how it progresses. if nothing then she aint into you and just let it go.
