Coronavirus is not replacing influenza, but is in fact adding to the number of people that will die!

What does this mean? It means you look like a special kind of fuckin idiot if you do this!

Nah, let them make the comparison. Then we can know right off the bat that they shouldn't be taken seriously on anything. Saves a lot of time.

By the time this thing is over we will have considerably more deaths than the flu.

Worse yet, had we not locked town it would insanely worse than the flu. Like 1000x the deaths.

Just look at new york, the flu never ever looked like that. Unfortunately we are still at the start as well.

And is more infectious and has a higher mortality rate than the flu anyway, and minus the vaccine
These arguments are futile at this point math is the last hope

Flu is not as deadly or infectious as COVID-19, tho.

like bro the flu causes more deaths yearly because the flu is yearly and already has a foothold in populations lol

no fucking shit a virus that first infected humans in november has a lower body count; the mortality rate and rate if infection are still vastly higher than seasonal flu.

I see a lot of people comparing apples with oranges, like comparing COVID-19 deaths in one day in one country to worldwide deaths from flu in a year, then saying, "See, it's not that bad!" In fact, I actually saw someone making a comparison with worldwide deaths from everything.

It's a different story if you compare like with like:

It's a valid comparison. Because the flu is similar, it's a widespread disease with similar symptoms and little to no death rate when healthy people have it. And it hasn't caused shutdowns. So far, nothing Corona's done has warranted a shutdown.

If we didn't take any preventative measures this thing would infect and kill vast quantities of people exponentially much more quickly than it already is

We don't really have an accurate measure of how many people have been infected by this. Till we do mortality rates are kind of pointless

Dude you dont need to announce to the world that you have no idea what youre talking about

The flu would not kill millions of Americans without a lockdown and quarantine. Covid19 would.
No it wouldn't, not by current rates. If you use New York and compare deaths to population, the rate is hilariously low. Nowhere near millions would die if you take New York's numbers.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/new-york-coronavirus-cases-updates.html

Population of 19 million
1,940 deaths

.01 % rate.

At that rate, if 320 million people live in the US, then 32,000 die roughly.

If there's one thing I can't stand about the flu comparison is that they're comparing a one virus that has been out since November where the first case was reported in Wuhan and is slowly spreading across the world to the point where we are now whereas the flu is has been around for decades and the death rate for the flu is low BECAUSE of all the research we have on it to defend against it via information and protocols on the prevention of spreading and, more importantly, having a vaccine for it.

No you fool, then they're going to run out and spread it to everyone and quite literally make this world a more dangerous place.

They might have similar death rates ( I don't know, haven't looked it up, but the flu has done it while everyone is free to do what they want. Corona achieved those numbers with a lockdown... that is fucking scary.
