Water is literally the most important substance for us so why would you live in a place where you have to pay for shit water on top of paying even more for bottled water?

Some people are literally too poor to move anywhere else.

Poor people have less opportunities for advancement in both education and the workplace. That doesn't leave much room for improving the situation.

Also, maybe they moved there when the water was clean. Then by the time the water gets fucked up, they don't have the funds to leave.

This is much more common than most people realize. My ex-gf works with Native American communities affected by the Dakota pipeline and she's an advocate for Native American rights. You would be surprised with what big oil and fracking companies can get away with. Tainted water is everywhere in the United States, it's not a stretch of the imagination that poorer countries have to deal with tainted water as well.

This is also true for me.

When I was little, we could actually drink the stuff and be okay. Nowadays... well, like I said. It's almost not even safe for bathing at this point.

It's worth noting that i'm not on a public water system, though. They don't run to where I live, so people in the immediate area that i'm at has to use water from a well.
