You seem to underestimate the selling power Final Fantasy still has.

Anyway, as for my opinion...I wish they could've gone with a straight remake instead of trying to make it canon with the original FFVII with this Watchers of Fate shit (at least that's how I understand it...I'm not gonna bother to research anymore and spoil myself completely) but I'm still looking forward to it. If the demo was anything to go by the game's gonna be a blast to play regardless.

If anything I'm more excited. One of my main concerns was it'd just be a pretty version of a game I played countless times since 1997.

Now I don't have that concern anymore.

Still shitty it's in parts though.

The reviews will be amazing. Whenever it's a remake or an enhanced port of a nostalgic crap from the golden era, it pretty much never gets bad scores on the reviews no matter what's in the game. OoT3D got some ridiculous score lol but the game pretty obviously showed its age.

They said the remake will change the way the story is told. None of these "leaks" are surprises for people paying attention. Final fantasy fans specifically 7 ones wanted a remake forever. Never once did I think a remake entailed literally the same everything just better graphics. Remakes aren't carbon copies. They add things. They change some things. With the exception of FFX no final fantasy has ever had a good story. The major draw is the gameplay which even in ffxv is fine

I know this isn't a popular opinion but I would be more pissed off if they didn't change nothing. Shot for shot remakes are utterly pointless. If you are going to give me something 100 percent the same just give me the original. Make tweeks, make aditions, make changes. Don't completely ruin the original and be respectful but remake it don't just release the same thing.

They're mostly mad at AdventChildren Sephiroth being the final boss, weird good version of Seph pulling Cloud into space to ask him to fight something else, and some weird vision of Zack surviving in another timeline.

FFIX was the last true FF. FFX is ok, but that's where they started being funky. Squaresoft should've never merged to become Enix.

FF7r is going to sell like hotcakes. Square is going to milk the heck out of it until it can't anymore. I predict at least 3-5 installments with a boatload of season passes, dlcs, etc. Gamers aren't that smart. Just look at them throwing donations on Twitch.
