Nothing wrong with normal wet markets. They're all around the world and are akin to farmers markets here. It's just that some markets sell weird animals in those Chinese ones, which is illegal already, but China has a hard time enforcing that law for whatever reason.

Only if you isolate it to this one subject. Because addressing the precedent PROPERLY would mean facing the possibility of open season from a lot of nations with axes to grind, both legitimately and otherwise.

As i said, this doesn't bode well for countries with a reputation for disastrous intervention or outright fuckery, and the nations of the Permanent Security Council feature heavily on both those lists. I'm guessing none of them are willing to relinquish their powerful veto right in the UN to make this happen.

Your "something has to change" is interesting. Perhaps under the circumstance, for the sake of accuracy, we may need to rephrase it to "something has to change, except when we're the ones doing it"?

Sounds like the same old bullshit to me.

The virus was going to spread worldwide no matter what anyone ever did, because it's completely invisible and tourists are a pest that spreads illnesses worldwide. People thought fever checks would be enough but it infects in incubation. People thought test kits would be enough, but they had a very high false negative rate. People thought 2 week quarantine would be enough, but apparently 1% of the people can have over 2 weeks incubation time?

However. Trump downplayed it and ignored it. THAT is why US is facing the worst damage and why Trump Administration are the ones who have to pay for the damages. Especially Trump and his dumbass tweets.

If the virus started spreading in China because it jump from bats/snakes/pangolins to humans, it's not China's fault. It's just something that was bound to happen eventually and could have been any country.

If the virus is a leak from a Chinese or American biolaboratory? Then that country needs to pay for the damages, because that would be their fault. How do you prove it, though?

If you want me to be honest? China already did the best they could and they're actively helping other countries stop the spread of covid, because it is a global issue that must be resolved as soon as possible. Meanwhile all I see US do is try to screw everyone else (US-exclusive rights to covid vaccines, stealing health supplies from a lot of other countries). If anyone has to pay for the covid damage it's absolutely not China, it's US just because of the scumbaggery of Trump Administration screwing over the world.
