The only thing that bugs me right now is that
1) I can't go out to eat
2) I can't get groceries easily

Pro:

1. loads of free time for sleep, etc, because of telecommute
2. No need to shave. I'm growing everything out to look like a hobo.

That's about it. I'm having fun day drinking too, but probably not a good habit. : /

I get to spend more time with my family instead of working.

I've got lots of OT dollas, I guess. Granted it's because I've worked ridiculous shifts where I could be infected by a deadly virus, but at least I really like my coworkers.

I'm getting paid full time and am home 4 or 5 days a week, with enough time to play games I never thought I would.

Even then I would proudly give that up to go back to normal.

Makes me appreciate who and what I have in my life. It's helped me realize how much my family needs me, and that's important since I was at the end of my rope 10 weeks ago. It's made me realize if I can get myself and my family through this, that there isn't anything I can't get through.

Basically just the stuff mentally ill people would notice and appreciate.

I hadn't had a vacation in years, and while this doesn't count, it's still technically a break from work. Nearby construction was killing business, and between that and difficult regulars, I was losing motivation. So a break is kind of nice, I just wish it wasn't killing me financially.

Traffic is sweet, I get to work from home most of the time now, and I got 2 weeks of free extra vacation that must be used before year end.

I would say that Summer Break started early because for the most part I now just live how I do during the summer (minus doing things), but I actually still have to do work related stuff. I get to sleep in at least.

Cons:

• Can't even go out to buy soap without being judged by morons who called me crazy for buying 3 weeks worth of pasta and frozen foods in early February ahead of this disaster.
• Can't get anything shipped online because Amazon thinks that shipping pallets of toilet paper is more "essential" than networking components so people can work from home. Tossers.
• Oh yeah, the complete destruction of our civil liberties such as the Right to Assembly and Right to Redress go up in smoke.
• The slim chance of getting a pretty nasty viral infection.
• I can't go to the gym which was a favorite hobby.

Pros:

• I bought a sports car, taking advantage of the 90 day payment deferment the government mandated as well as the Fed's low interest rate. The fact that no one seems to be buying sports cars in this trying time lent me some amazing haggle room too.
• My job just got a whole lot more interesting.
• I can invest in the market now without feeling like I've missed out on the best gains.
• Ladies are getting stir crazy and blowing up my phone.
• DAY DRINKIIIING!

Even after a couple of weeks dealing with an illness early last month (suspected COVID-19 the first week--it was awful), I feel great. My day-to-day hasn't changed as I'm employed in essential work, so I'm thinking it must be the fact that I'm doing all my own meal prep. I notice more energy, more interest in my work and past hobbies, and interestingly, less tolerance for things that I don't like. Maybe it's not diet at all, but that's the only change, and it wasn't a huge change: I ate Chipotle nearly daily, but I prepare similar food for myself. Maybe it's lower calories and/or lack of industrial seed oils rich in PUFAs, which some, like Ray Peat, regard as anathema.

And at least personally Id rather work in an actual office vs being at home. Now I have to spend way more time typing up emails and making phone calls. Vs just walking around and talking to somebody.

The Thai place I like lowered their delivery free from 5.99 to 1.99 because now that sit down restaurants are closed they no longer feel "too good for delivery".
