compared to PCs that is

supposedly both are using custom 8-core AMD zen 2s as their CPUs, which is almost equivalent to a 3700x on the PS5 (3.5ghz) and a 3800x on the XSX (3.8ghz)

as for graphics they are both utilizing custom AMD RDNA2 chipsets, which aren't out yet for PC and could theoretically be on par with the next line of AMD GPUs.

XSX with 1TB nvme ssd and PS5 with an 865GB ssd (probably nvme but they haven't elaborated yet)

i guess it all boils down to what the video memory is on these cards, which I'm guessing has to be a minimum of 8GB if they want to seriously compete with PC gpus, but still...i've never seen specs so comparable to top of the line PCs before at launch. how the hell are they going to price these things? the gpus alone would make this $500 at minimum, and adding a $270 processor and a $100 SSD on top of that...plus the RAM too which is probably another $80 or so bucks

i'm very curious to see how they pull this off. i would not be surprised if they raised the price on xbox live/PSN and made the consoles a subscription type thing with online included. this could be on par with buying a new iphone or a new galaxy tbqh

Obviously no, they've never been this powerful.

Good price for the package you are getting. I'm wondering if people are going to hack these consoles to run some homebrew OS.

Wouldn't be a bad way to convert a console into a cheap gaming PC.

i mean definitely if they sell these things at regular console price. i just don't see how.

i seriously would not be surprised if sony and microsoft realized that since people are willing to spend $1000 on an iphone or samsung...why not a console?
