What is this? We're gonna adopt the "Papers, Please!" over-bearing style of government? This ought to roll over great! I can see it now: hair cutteries only allowing people with immunity certificates into their business. Countless others complaining about being discriminated and not allowed in. Or certain states won't allow you to travel into them unless you produce your immunity certificate. Not to mention the government will probably use this as a way to deport illegal immigrants...

This has disaster written all over it. You're going to have people try and purposely get the disease so they can get the certificates.

nothing in the article states how the certificates would be used. in the two examples provided by OP, one is an example of the free market being free (a business conducting itself in the manner it deems best for itself) and the other is an example of states exercising their individual rights.

hilariously stupid. there's no guarantee that either the antibodies produced from a previous infection will protect from a future mutated covid virus, or that the antibodies will have a half life longer then a few weeks.

so we should never go outside ever again? there is a limit to which you can keep people contained and nothing that it could mutate and start all over so we should do nothing is an awful stance.

There has to be some path to normalcy, and waiting a year for a vaccine, which also might not work for a mutated strain, simply isn't viable. People are going to get extremely restless as summer winds down

If they're going to be used as TC is suggesting, and Trump goes along with it, Trump will lose the election. I won't vote for him if they start requiring testing and/or vaccines in order to travel or return to work. I won't vote for him if they start tracking us like they're doing in China and Russia

If you're not a fan of that then why are you a fan of Trump? From day one, even before his presidential bid his management style was exactly that, overbearing. He ran all his businesses into the ground like that. He said he'd run the country exactly the same, something you supported and touted as a positive. the only thing stopping him from TRULY being authoritarian are our checks and balances, and even then members of the senate and congress, many of which whom you defend and support, are giving him as much room to be overbearing as they possibly can.

None of this is new. this was all painfully obvious from day one. you can't claim to have been against it when he's been extremely open about it for decades. Again, you'e defended this behavior for years and are now pretending like its such a shock and surprise that Trump and his admin could act this way....You created this.Just like every other "states rights" republican, it seems to be less about the states rights and more abut what you personally want, and Trump's admin has finally said something that you're interpreting as negative, so you're suddenly against them acting this way. you had no problem with the acting this way for other things you supported. You can't have it both ways. Elections have consequences and apparently you elected and support someone who you claim goes against what you stand for with regard to being an overbearing authoritarian....but in the past it was ok because it didn't affect you directly or it was something you liked....Fuck off.

Probably not going to happen. Trump's Task Force discusses possibilities, contingencies, options, projections of infections, etc.... doesn't mean it's gonna happen. Fauci said it's one of several options they are discussing. Someone like Fauci is more open to such a plan because his primary concern is the virus more than anything else, so he might not be thinking so much about the rights of the people, as that's not his area of expertise. Fauci: This is something thats being discussed, I think it might actually have some merit." Other advisors and people in the administration probably realize it would be a step too far.
