Was such a kind, good dude. Not much older than me. Has two grown kids and a wife. Still processing it. He was reasonably healthy. Crazy how fast it happened. We've been out of work for a couple weeks but I heard he was sick before the weekend and hospitalized Sunday... now he's gone. I don't even know if I'll be able to attend his funeral.

Maybe I was being naive given how my uncle recovered, but when I heard my coworker was ill I was optimistic he'd bounce back. This is such a shock. Feel deeply for his family. Not sure if I should send flowers due to the state of things, I'm sure no one wants more deliveries and people around. I'll probably just wait for funeral details and see if they're accepting charitable donations in his name.

Sorry I'm half venting / half thinking while typing. My wife is real freaked out about the virus because we have the baby, I don't think I'll mention this to her just yet. Need an outlet for this even if ya'll ignore it. Hope you're all staying safe and washing hands

That's awful. And to think of how many people are to this day downplaying the dangers of this virus honestly makes me sick. I have to stop reading twitter and reddit with all this insanity on it. So many people saying we need to get rid of all these mitigation strategies right away instead of when it's safe. Anyway yeah... sorry you're going through that

Damn, Im sorry, bro.

My coworker(or ex-coworker, he left work a few months ago) also died to it. He was like in his early 40s.

For a couple of days all I kept thinking was, He was JUST here. Very sad.

Its crazy how you go from, I dont know anyone who has this Coronavirus to Man, not only do I know someone but someone I know died from it. All in just a few weeks.

Thanks everyone

Sorry for your loss @HornedLion

It is strange to think when I go back to work how this person I saw almost daily simply won't be there any more. I mean, people quit, get fired etc, but knowing why they're gone...

Can't imagine what it's like for my employer. This guy didn't work in my department, but I imagine his manager will need to fill the position as quick as possible. Gotta feel a bit callous in consideration of his peers in his department who are likely most affected. How do you balance that? Meeting the company's needs while mourning the loss of an employee?

Thoughts and prayers.

So far I've been fortunate enough to only know one person who died from it.

Ouch, I'm sorry for your coworker and his family. I don't know anyone personally yet who has died from it, but I have a feeling more and more of us are going to be able to say we do. My sympathies in this rough time.

Makes me wonder about the fate of a good apple I had the fortune to be working with before I left my job to stay home. I hope he does well. With me gone the department's already shorthanded, and he's the most competent guy there as far as I've seen.

My condolences, losing someone you know is a difficult thing. I had just a loss in the family before this kicked off. I know survivor guilt can affect one more than one would think. I am sorry for your loss. I pray you recover and are able to be strong for your family. Your wife and child will lean on you before too long. Stay strong

That sucks. It just proves even more how short life really is and nobody should take things for granted.

People die everyday from many things. It's really not healthy to focus on "what if?".

This is so disheartening to hear : (

I saw a YouTube video where they illustrated how the virus operated and how people die from it.

While the immune system fights against the virus, the virus itself hijacks some of the immune system to fight back.

And then afterwards when your immune system is weakened, it can't fight back the bacteria/microbes that usually aren't any dangerous to you.

Eventually they overrun the body and you die.

There has also been popping up cases where some remnants of the virus has been reactivated on people that have recovered from it.

Is there no end for this madness?
Screw this virus.

Thats a sad story but I hope its an eye-opener to those who think this is not as bad as they think.

The owner of the company I work for has been home for over a month while hes making all his employees work and doing very little to protect us from getting sick. I know there are other companies doing the same thing and to them its not a problem until it is a problem.

Once again, I offer my condolences and stay safe!

I don't know anyone personally that has it yet, but there have been three confirmed cases in the retirement home where my girlfriend's grandmother lives, which is stressful. Her grandmother's being good about adhering to the lockdown, but there's a reasonable chance one of the three cases is the cleaning lady who didn't get the memo about the other two cases self-isolating (before they were confirmed), who I'm guessing has been into many other rooms since then. Only time will tell how that plays out.

And then there's the fact that it's currently ripping through the nursing home where my grandmother used to live. As terrible as it is, I'm kind of glad she died last January so I didn't have to worry about her now (I'm also glad she died because she was too depressed to do anything but also too stubborn to accept treatment for her depression so her life consisted pretty much entirely of lying in bed and waiting to die for several years and that was just a pitiful existence that I'm glad she's free of, but that's another matter).
