And can you point me into a keyboard that sounds good, 88 keys and isnt super expensive. I dont really need too many styles of sound. If it just has grand piano that would be fine.

What's expensive to you? What's your actual budget?

I play piano. I have a yamaha digital piano in the Clavinova series. They have a lot of different models now. I've had it for probably 7 years or so? I think I paid around 3000 for it back then, so they probably have models in that range now https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/pianos/clavinova/

If you wanted to go way cheaper you could get a stage piano and stand which could go for a few hundred, but the upright digital pianos are pretty nice

if youre spending 5k on a piano/keyboard, PotD is an awful place to ask tbh. try a keyboard/piano subreddit as musician subreddits are usually pretty cool

I dont really want one of those upright style ones. And I kinda want one that's not a pain to move. I am working from home now and when things go back to normal I may wanna take it and leave it at my office.

OK, I would search for stage pianos then, that's going to be the most movable. Roland and Yamaha both make good ones

Glad this topic exists because I've been planning to buy a home piano for a while now. It's been years since I've practiced regularly. The Yamaha YDP-S54 is looking nice...

Strangely I think I am leaning towards the P125. Gonna watch some videos on it later

I have a Kawai ES8. I got it for $1,000 used recently. I really like it. Before I had a Kawai ES7 (if you're in the northeast, I'd be willing to sell) I got used from guitar center for $700.

If you're looking for something that's good quality but more "budget" I'd recommend the Casio Privia. You can get it "Very Good" from the amazon warehouse right now for $470. https://www.amazon.com/Casio-Privia-PX-160BK-88-Key-Digital/dp/B0100RBPTC

Furniture style stands available for both the Kawai ES and the Privia. I think the ES110 is the more budget version of the ES line, people seem to like it but I've never used one. If you're willing to get a digital that's more furniture style instead of a portable then you can get a more realistic action, but the action is still great on the portable digitals.

Recommend against a William, all the ones I've played felt cheap.

I want to myself a home keyboard as well, but I'm willing to go cheap... I just want something that doesn't sound like filtered MIDI garbage (I used to have a Casio CTK-421 and it was 'ok', but still suck)

I've had multiple Yamahas and I've always enjoyed them. Unfortunately my pianos are back at my parents' in Florida and it's probably be easier to just buy my own.

Anything under 88 keys is not digital piano , don't let shopkeepers tell you otherwise .

For styles and sounds I suggest a software or if you need for live performance I suggest workstations that are not really expensive these days , even the good ones , casio top brand choice .

For digital piano I would recommend Yamaha , Yamaha P45b is what's on the market now... not expensive , weighted keys , clear sound , play better than most other digital pianos from most stores .

For exclusive quality to perform at dinner parties you need to go way up with price nothing less than $4000 .

Personally seen no difference between digital pianos for $900 and $3000.

For my taste most what Roland can offer is way different from what I would want from a piano . The sound is way more settle and for music such as Fur Elise totally unsuitable .

Seen little of Nord and Korg but the sound was a lot better , the price higher and the keys felt like plastic that forces you to make a mistake while playing cause your finger slips way too often . For the price I would expect a bit of texture on the keys or real wood .

Those are of course only my views , I suggest you to go to the stores and play even a little bit and you will find your piano, the bond will be made on the spot and you will not forget which one you chose , it's always like that . Reviews won't help .
