I'm kind of inclined to agree (I'm not sure "fad" is the right word, but something like that). It's a well designed platformer and all, but difficult indie platformers that are similarly well designed are a dime a dozen these days. SMB deserves props for tapping into that market and being one of the earliest examples of the rise of indie games that has come to define the last decade of gaming, but beyond that significance, it's nothing all that special.

Sega's released more good Sonic games in the past decade than Team Meat has released games at all, so even if you want to vote for the company instead of the individual games in question (which isn't at all what the poll asks for), that's still going to lean in Sega's favour.
