Hundreds of Gamers around the world attended a virtual funeral procession in Final Fantasy 14 after one of their beloved gamer friends DIED from COVID-19!!

Friends of the character known as "Ferne Le'Roy" organized a funeral after his human player died from the virus as the group of friends who knew him held a funeral procession in his honour with most of the players gathering in the desert city ofUl'dah on the game's Zalera server

Final Fantasy is one of the best selling video game franchises as players werejoined by his alternate character "Poppy Rose" on the Coeur server as well.

They all wore primarily in funeral appropriate black as the procession began in the middle of the night and they crossed different lands before the sun came up including the regions of Central Shroud

The journy took a half hour before ending under the Guardian Tree, a holy site within the woods

The game's twitter community took to twitter to express shock at how many joined in as one person wrote "The #FFXIV community never ceases to amaze me. Such a huge turnout and show of respect, community and camaraderie at this memorial service. My view distance couldn't handle so many people! May the fallen player rest in peace, my condolences all around. Be safe, everybody!"

Another said "This was my first time experiencing something like this.There were people attending that took up to 2-3 zones of the base game which are large in general. So many showed up to give their condolences to their fellow adventurer, their friends and family"

One of my good online friends poured gasoline on himself and lit a cigarette about 2.5 years ago.

I named my son's middle name after him. To this day, getting reminded of ceviche brings me to tears.(he was a cook and told me about the dish, and it became one of my favorite dishes)

A handful of posters from CE have passed away over the years I've been visiting the board.

As far as personally knew, there was a guy in FFXI that was going through a very tough time. Iirc his brother was his only family and then he died too. He said he was going to end his own life. I tried talking him out of it, he told me he'd reconsider but if I never saw him again that he'd gone through with it. He never logged back in, but I'm hopeful he just got the help he needed and moved on without looking back.

Knew a guy since the StarCraft Broodwar days. Even met in person. Never got a chance to play StarCraft 2 with him. Died in a car accident. I didn't played much StarCraft 2 myself. Just wasn't the same.

It is. I've been playing since 2.0 (1.0 if you count that 1st free month before i quit because it was awful) and still enjoy logging on every day.
