I don't even expect a proper ES6. It's going to be another FO76 online bullshit piece meal game. Online has ruined Rockstar's future and now it's ruining Bethesda's.

I don't know why anyone has hopes for a Bethesda game after Skyrim let alone after FO4 (FO4 seems like the turning point for a lot of people but the warning signs started with Skyrim).

Also want my FO76 on Steam already.

Honestly, Skyrim is chock full of Bethesda sins and it's still pretty great. That could just be because I couldn't give a fuck less about The Elder Scrolls before Morrowind but I love Fallout 1 and 2 more than my parents, though.

I only play one hour of it and then stop. Hell, the only fallout I beat with dlc are Fallout 1,2,3 but just broken steel and new Vegas.

... and I still haven't played it yet (backlog).

Loved that game but I hope they fix some of the problems come next release. Some of them new to Skyrim, others persistent to Bethesda

• horrendous bug control. You know shit is bad when the modding community comes out with patches better than the actual development team
• Lack of risk/reward. This is so integral to RPGs and Skyrim just...omits it completely. Why ever go into the dark depths of the map when you know that when you get there you'll just face the same old enemies with the same old loot? Hell, why go anywhere when you can just craft a sword at home far superior than any mythical loot you find in a dungeon anywhere? There's many interesting places in Skyrim and no reason to visit them.
• For that matter, blacksmithing needs a serious overhaul.
• Lack of monster variety. They really just gave up this time, it feels.
• Scaling. They need to cut that shit out. Don't make me feel like levelling up is a waste of time
• Magic. They really fucked magic up in Skyrim. I want to reduce enemies to ashes in a blazing firestorm, not pelt them with a thousand matchsticks afterhaving to debuff them with 6 other spells.
• Quest and guild variety. What happened? Oblivion had creative and fun quests and guilds. They forgot or something.

Last elder scrolls game I thoroughly enjoyed was oblivion. Skyrim was a whole lot of fusrohdah dragons and repetitive dungeons. ES:O was alright though

I remember loving the first few hours of it but thinking everything after was very underwhelming

I love Skyrim because the world is the only decent thing about it. The storyline is balls, the gameplay systems are shallow as fuck, but the world is great. It's pretty much the penultimate Bethesda game.

That's a good way to put it. Every time I replay I just ignore the story and just enjoy exploring and getting into the world. It's more fun to roleplay as whatever than go through the story.

Last elder scrolls game I thoroughly enjoyed was oblivion. Skyrim was a whole lot of fusrohdah dragons and repetitive dungeons.

This is one of the more frequent does-not-compute observations I see concerning Oblivion vs Skyrim, right up there with 'Skyrim is nothing but snow' when Skyrim has double the biome diversity of Cyrodiil.

You're forgetting the myriad of completely forgettable forts and caves in Oblivion, and the Ayleid Ruins were no less same-y than Dwemer or Draugr ruins. And last time I counted, there are a grand total of four dungeons in Cyrodiil that have some kind of self-contained story, and the only one of note is, unsurprisingly, the first dungeon you see upon exiting the tutorial sewers, Vilverin. Skyrim on the other hand has a significantly higher number of dungeons with some kind of self-contained uniqueness, either in quest form (Ansilvund, for example) or simply having a named bandit clan with a smattering of unique dialogue (White River Watch). They also tend to be better designed, with a looping structure that keeps you from having to backtrack all the way out again when finished (the most memorable Oblivion dungeons also had looping design, Skyrim just made it the norm rather than the rare exception).
