This is what staying closed down for too long does. But y'all don't want to hear that.

Too many state workers sitting idle doing nothing to collect a paycheck.

Meanwhile, democrats here are thinking of cutting teacher and first responder pay by 20%.

Hmm.

Layoffs and furloughs started weeks before any official orders to close. It happened to me.

The "end the orders and the economy will come right back like magic" crowd don't wanna hear that

Do you actually, literally believe that millions of people in the US will die as a result of unemployment? Because thats what youre saying. If not, then yes, keeping lockdowns in place is the smarter choice.

Sorry to hear that but

1) we want to save lives
2) unemployment benefits, various assistance programs, etc
3) weve had it drilled in our heads since ever to have 3-6 months of expenses in emergency savings

2020 is the year of itoldyousos

The riots that will happen the more people become unemployed is the exact opposite of saving lives.

Currently a little over 5% in the US whereas original studies said 3.4%. Got a source on what youre saying other than your colon?

That's because they believe in the "cut the head off a chicken and play a kazoo while the body stumbles around and then do whatever thing is printed on the space where the body stops" economy policy from South Park (can't link video because I'm on phone and can't do it on computer because internet is fucked up where I am)

Even with the adjusted rate of infection as found by the study, only 3% of the population has coronavirus that means 97% does not.

Even with a .12% death rate as that (non-peer reviewed) study implies, thats a lot of fucking dead people for muh stock market

Ive heard it tossed around my industry as well to be fair, which is definitely non govt. Strikes me as a corporate jargon euphemism.

If you ever spend a single $1 on a non essential item you can save money.

And even if you didn't save if you took care of your credit score you can take advantage of a number of dirt cheap personal loans and lines out there right now. Or cards with 0% for a year+. Meanwhile you can ask for breaks on repaying debt and sit back and collect government assistance.

As far as finances go Im less worried about the individual right now and more about small businesses and the economy in the long term. Of course lives are important too so the important debate here is when to start pushing the balance in favor of the economy over the social distancing. It would be a real shame to pull that trigger too soon and effectively make all that effort pointless and back to square one.
