Because I didnt preface my post with "Trump is stupid" you're assuming I support him. Because of that I must automatically be in support of child imprisonment, overturning Roe v Wade, and corporate bailouts. And because I didn't join the hive in saying "this is all Trump's fault" and tried to point out the media's fault in the matter, I must be playing damage control and pointing fingers to save face for him because I worship the guy. And because you assumed all of this about me, I'm a dumbass and my life is made more difficult for it.

By your own metric our life must be a living hell because you sure as shit ain't smart. Unlike others here I will not stoop to suggesting you inject household cleaners because of your impairment.

Here I'll say it: Trump is stupid, his remarks were stupid, and he's a bad president. While I get what you're saying, it's not the media's job to cover for the president's oopsies and not report stuff he said/did. Nor should it be, we should have a president with the basic sense to not tell people to consume/inject hazardous chemicals. Where would the line be drawn exactly, on the curbing of basic freedom of the press?

And ultimately, I'd rather have everyone know what a dangerous idiot the leader of the free world is so they're aware and vote him out of office, than to keep people ignorant of that information and then he coasts to a 2nd term to do even more damage.

How are they going to extremes to spread it? The president gave a press conference for the sake of the media to record and report what he said. The media is shit sometimes but they're doing their actual job here. No one goaded the president into saying what he said, he wasn't speaking privately, and despite his backtracking, he most certainly wasn't being sarcastic. And if he really was, then he's just a bumbling idiot who is cracking jokes as the goddam president in a time when he needs to be serious.

There is really no one to blame but Trump in this case.

I watched him say it live. There was zero sarcasm in his voice, eyes or body language. You could tell he genuinely believed what he was saying. I was flabbergasted. Ill also argue that if this happened five years ago and Obama had said it, everyone defending Trump on everything he does now wouldve been sharpening their axes. The cycle of hypocrisy (on both sides) that politics engenders is disgusting.
