Projected 60k deaths.
Mostly the elderly / already sick.

Most small towns barely had any cases to begin with. There is no reason to keep all these smaller in the middle/western part of the country shut down

Keep the big cities closed and any place close to them so they don't travel and ruin other places. Open up the rest.

Because people are getting comfortable sleeping in until noon and not wearing real clothes for weeks.

they're concerned with tourists coming in here and infecting the local population (the town has alot of elderly people). it would overwhelm the healthcare system.

on march 23rd they told the tourists to GTFO by closing hotels/beaches and campgrounds so they wouldn't linger.
kinda want the beach to be open again even if it's just for walkers/bicyclists/pet walkers etc. it's for my dog's needs mainly (could make her satisfied with the walking for the day with an hour of outside).

edit: our town is about 1hr 30 mins from the big city's within oregon and washington.

Exactly. If your big city is locked down, but the little town thirty minutes away has opened their nail salons, hair dressers, etc.,, people are going to go there.

1. That's with robust social distancing in place
2. We will hit 60k this week, not August as this projection suggested.
