Boxes are when they are able to be taken. If they aren't taken that day then they're gone

What's the exact timeline for when someone moves out and when someone new moves in? I just want to make sure I get it right, since I've yet to have someone move.

Day 1 - They ask to move, and you say Yes.
Day 2 - They are in boxes.
Day 3 - They are gone.

That much I inferred from your post. So on Day 3, you can go to Mystery Islands tio find new villagers, as well as another town that has someone in boxes? If you don't do either of those things, will someone random automatically move in on Day 4? Or will nobody come in unless you make them (such as the 2 above methods, as well as campsite) Also, is the house itself gone when someone moves out? And if not, how does that affect the 5 default houses with boring furniture?

As far as Ive heard, if you dont find someone on day 3, then you get a random on day 4.

I've heard that the house goes back to a plot when someone moves out, but if you time travel past the next day it'll glitch and keep the outside of the house of the old villager.

Oh man, I had no idea that breaking rocks made it more likely to spawn gold nuggets the next day. No wonder I stopped finding gold nuggets for so long - I've been pretty content with rock placement in my island and stopped breaking them a while ago.

Does anyone know if you have to break the rock BEFORE you scavenge its resources or does it not matter to increase the likelihood of future gold nugs? Currently doing Nook Island tours and not sure if I should just be breaking them right away or harvesting first.

I believe a random villager can move in as early as day 4, but it's not guaranteed. When Victoria left I couldn't find a good replacement villager the next day, but it took several more days before she was automatically replaced (unfortunately I didn't get around to doing more mystery islands before that).

Man, that was annoying. I had Merengue visit my camp site, which was cool, so I tried to do the reset until I got the right camper to replace trick and goddamn, is everyone as annoying to recruit as Merengue? I'd only get the option to invite her maybe 40% of the time and then she'd decline 60% of the time, make me play a card guessing game 35% of the time and accept 5% of the time. So, sometimes I would be talking to her for literally 15 minutes before I could get to the point of seeing which villager she wanted to replace and then despite doing it like 20 times, the one villager I actually wanted to get rid of never came up, so I settled on getting rid of a villager I wasn't too attached to.

So, anyway, Merengue is moving in tomorrow and my snooty hamster Soleil is in boxes today.
