Media hype. Hospitals geared up for the influx that didn't happen, on the other hand, places ripe for Legionnaires Disease, cruise ships and nursing homes, got coronavirus instead. SARS-2, worse than the original 2003 SARS epidemic, not as bad as ordinary seasonal flu. So now they're padding "Coronavirus" statistics with people who test negative and calling it "coronavirus-related". It's enough to make you swear off the fantasyland the media calls "news".

The other problem is that its symptoms are so similar to the flu that many think that they have the flu when it's really Covid-19. After all there's now evidence that Covid was going around in the US in December of 2019, months before the first case in the US was officially diagnosed but the people who had it thought that it was the flu. If that's true, there's no way to know who might've been exposed to it and who wasn't since people can exhibit no symptoms and pass it along to someone who's vulnerable such as those with compromised immune systems (not all of those are elderly either).

Flu deaths annually US: 12,000 to 61,000
Flu deaths annually worldwide: 290,000 to 650,000

COVID-19 deaths so far US: 58,033
COVID-19 deaths so far worldwide: 214,000

Keep in mind that it's only April, and the first reported death in the US was in February so that's 58,000 deaths in under 3 months.

Eeyup. Every public health crisis is the same: Crisis emerges, a response is mounted to it that may or may not directly impact the public, the crisis passes, and then people complain about how much of an overreaction the response was because it wasn't a big deal, oblivious to the fact that the only reason it wasn't a big deal is because of the hard work and sacrifices of countless public health workers. The concept of cause and effect is lost on some people.

Literally dont know what youre talking about, so maybe you should sit in a corner and stop talking.

Hint: Look at more than just the death statistics. The neurological, hepatic, and respiratory complications that are not going away that the flu doesnt even come close to causing.

Not to mention that even the most conservative death estimate of 2% is still 20 times worse than the seasonal flu.

And also, like was already mentioned, COVID causes far more harm to people's respiratory, neurological, and cardiovascular systems that the flu just doesn't do. For every person dying from this virus, there are more who have suffered damage which looks likely to effect their health for years and years to come.

I believe thats of people suspected to have the virus as a whole, not just people who have tested positive, because the death rate of people who have tested positive is more than 5% so that is definitely not true. But probably the majority of people who have it haven't been tested because its generally the symptomatic people who are being tested in the first place.

yeah, it's not shrinking, it's literally only growing.

the issue is that there's a severe lack of actual reliable testing devices still.

and the ones that are supposed to be reliable, still aren't. there's tons of false negatives. you could ask several countries all about that, too, if you wanted.
