Overall, I'd say 7-8 but it still really depends on the type of game. Certain well made RPGs for example I might replay for the story but usually the story is all I would care about so if the gameplay was cumbersome in some way, I might not replay the game. I found Planescape: Torment story to be amazing but in terms of gameplay will have trouble getting back into it.

And then there's the Borderlands where it might not be the best of stories but the gameplay is fun enough that I would replay again with a different class. And then there's games with both stories and gameplay that I enjoyed such as Xenogear but I know that game is bloody long so probably will not want to get back into again.

Really low, like around a 2.

There are a whole bunch of games in my backlog. :p

Generally low but it depends on the kind of game it is. If it's a story driven game I'm fine if one playthrough is enough.

This sounds about right. Some games aren't designed to be readily replayed, and I'm fine with them having less by way of replay value. Some games are, and if they lack it, it drags them down a lot in my eyes. it's not something I can make a blanket statement about beyond saying that replay value is generally a good thing because it means I get more entertainment out of my dollars.

About a 6 or a 7. It's nice to have if done right. I have other games to play, and also I try to get good deals on my games, but the option and desire to go again, to try something differently than the first time, is good to have.

Unless its something like Slay the Spire which is made to be replayed over and over then i would rate it a 1. Its not a negative thing to have but its not at all important. Good games are good games whether you only want to play them once or endlessly.

It depends on the genre of game. Platformers are one where replay value is the only way I will match the amount of time I do in other games whereas a RPG or long adventure game is something I will probably only play once because I will dump 40+ hours playing through the first time.

In this era of micro-transactions, I'd say replay value is highly important.

In recent games, there is little to no incentive to replay through games, because those incentives can be bought on the side instead of playing the game itself.

My favorite example is "Metal Gear Solid" for PS1. You play through the game once, save Meryl, you get the stealth mod. Play through it a second time, save Octacon, you get the infinate ammo bandana mod. Play through it a third time, and you get a tuxedo for Solid Snake and Grey Fox wears Spiderman colors.

....nowadays, you can just buy the tuxedo skin for Solid Snake in the latest iterations of the game. Where is the replay value for 'real gamers' who don't rely on MTXs to pay2win through the little details of the game?

Games are getting expensive, and shouldn't just be one-off experiences with extra costs for more.

---
PSA: "Real Gamers*" don't pay for Micro-transactions.
*Pro-tip: You're not 'playing' the game, if you're paying your way through it.

10.

the only games Ive never replayed (outside of games that just suck) are basically visual novels and I really dont care for that.
never in my life have I ever been like Im only gonna play this once and be done.
Im not that kind of consumer.

I want to play the game. Then play it again on the hardest mode. Then play it again using only certain items. Then play it again taking no damage.

That kind of thing. So I pretty much make my own reply value. But if the game is just a linear story game and its gonna be the same no matter what; I cant even add my own replay value, then its not a game I want. Thats why I say I rate replay value a 10 in importance.

Play value: 10. If a game can be played for hundreds or thousands of hours without getting old, it's a good game.

Replay value: 0. Why bother?

Depends on the game. There are a lot of titles I can barely be bothered to finish once. However, some genres -- like fighting and racing -- are built on replay so it's more of a problem if it doesn't hold up.

However, most turn-based RPGs (other than Pokemon) I can't see myself playing more than once, unless it's on a handheld and I play a little over time.

2?

Plenty of my favorite games I have never replayed. I enjoyed them immensely, but I spent so many hours playing them and doing everything that I never felt a desire to do it again.

Replayability only matters if a game is like 10 hours or less.

For longer games, the ideal situation is something like NieR Automata, where you can go back and revisit specific sections of a game you want to play through again rather than an "all or nothing" NG+. But I don't care if such games don't have that feature, it's just a nice bonus.

It depends entirely on the game b. A final fantasy title yeah after 40 hours and an unskipable laugh scene yeah I was done. Or me3 in which yes I would replay for the different colored endings but beyond that the deferent classes didnt leave me wanting to play again. And those are aaa titles. So replay isnt important as long as the overall product is well crafted.

Games like gears though while the story is meh(atleast 3rd installment forward) however they doubledowned on that with multiplayer and co-op. They turned that franchise to the max. Honestly I hate gears all together but looking at what they did I can appreciate the fact they gave the players their money worth.

For indie titles its mre important for replay. Often these games are short and have low presence in the market. Replay sets them apart especially if you got a friend who says im looking to play it. Because the response is usually either I played that a few years back vs I am on my forth playthrough and I broke 10 million brewing beer. You can see how replay will get more people to give a look.

I dont like cheapened replay like nier automata. 27 endings. They really dont classify as endings though a/b are more like pokemon red/blue its the same game but taking two different paths as different characters. C/d were more like just the second half of the game. E was lets get you to play 5 saves worth and all the others were just oops game overs. Not exactly what you wanna call replay ability

I like having things to go back and do in a game that I enjoy playing, however there's a point where there's too much and I get overwhelmed since I'm confused at where to start and so forth... balance is key. A lot of replay value for me doesn't even come from this, it's arguably better when a game is so solid and enjoyable that I enjoy going back to it in perhaps unintended ways and messing around with glitches or other characters or whatnot.

That's not replay value.
Replay value is if you ever want to pick it up again after the credits.

It depends on the price and how long the game is. If I'm paying $50 for a game that lasts 2 hours it better have a HELL of a lot of replayability. On the other hand, if the game lasts 1000 hours, I probably don't need to replay it. Or if it's like $1, a single 2 hour playthrough is pretty good.

for me, like 8 or 9. some games are worth playing just for the one good playthrough, but the best games can be played almost indefinitely. you know a game is good when you're already thinking of how you'll play it next time before you've even finished the first.

Plenty of my favorite games I have never replayed.

I've thought about that notion myself a bit recently, which caused me to question whether or not they were actually among my favorite games. Compare that to something like LttP which I've beaten at least 70 or 80 times over the years.

Much to that point, I was replaying SMB3 recently -- doing it as a 100% (I only skipped one stage because it required precise timing and I forgot I could save scum for unlimited lives to retry it) -- and, while I still think it's a great game, I'm not sure I can describe it as a favorite any more (or, at least, not among my top 10 or 15).

Used to be important. Now that I have more games than I can reasonably play, not so much. I don't even bother with DLC most of the time.
