I voted "How."

If I know when I will die, then every remaining day of my life will be marked with a note of dread knowing that I'm inching ever closer to that fateful day. While true that it may give me a greater appreciation for life, it will be a thought in the back of my mind at all times.

If I know how I will die, on the other hand, that isn't necessarily something that will weigh on my mind, depending on the nature of my demise. Heart attack? Alright, nothing too out of the ordinary there. Someday I'll have a heart attack. Don't know when, so I'm not gonna fret over it. Dying in a plane crash? Well shit, now every time I have to take a flight I'm gonna be terrified. But overall I think it'd be better to know the how, rather than the when.

We can change the future, right? So if we know how or when, we can take actions to change it?

Seems like it would easier to prevent my cause of death than my time of death. Like if I know I'll die in a car accident, I'm avoiding cars. I don't see how I can extend my life beyond my own doomsday, though.

How. Knowing the exact amount of time you have left is definitely going to put you in a crisis.

I feel like either one could tbh.

Especially if the how is tortured to death or even stabbed or something.

What if it's a Death Note-type situation where you just die of a heart attack if you are somehow able to fully prevent the original cause?

I'd go for either or actually. I've always wondered what it would be like to know precisely when you'd die. Would I become jaded with life or would I appreciate it more or would I just not care and keep trotting along.

I think knowing how would be pretty boring if it was just something like natural causes or depressing if it was something like cancer.

I'll choose "when" though.

Honestly, knowing stuff like this might seem scary, but finding out you are guaranteed to die at like 105 years old of natural causes would be great. Only scenario where this would be good.

You never fly a plane again but a plane falls on your car while driving.
