I really loved it back when I played it a year ago, quickly played about 30 hours or so. But I hit sort of a roadblock with a mission featuring enemy snipers, other games came up and I dropped it.

Good choice. It doesn't really have the best narrative, but unlocking all the weapons, upgrading mother base, and just finding ways to fuck with enemies out in the field are a blast

I love the series but haven't played it yet. I bought it when it came out, replayed 1-4 and then read a bunch of shit about the story being unfinished and it killed my desire to play it.

My man, sometimes we have really similar taste in games. MGSV has the tightest gameplay of any game ever and anyone who doesn't like it is suspect

Hell I fucking detest big Boss but it's tied for my favorite mgs

What mission number?

Trying that, without much luck. Got shot down right at the top of the first crack.

if you really want to take them out, abuse the nv goggles in locating their laser pointer, throw grenades in the air and they'll shoot it, use a bunch of decoys also pay attention when you get to shoot them, they get knocked down and they'll be up and running and they'll give their direction to their new position

i usually draw out the fight in the river below but if you push through their offense, they'll be hiding in the far jungle just past the river (with the cracks and waterfall), and the ground above the previous river doesnt have much cover for you to use so watch out for that

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

she could but if she doesnt get support she'll be killed almost immediately

Quiet gets flat-out murdered when she's brought with on that mission, so don't bother.

I found it a bit easier with night vision goggles, since you can tell when the snipers get close and can do the melee counter thing on 'em. I think there are also a set number of sniping spots they use, too, so you can eventually learn their gameplan. Not sure if smoke grenades and stuff help, since I've never bothered.

But as said, if you hate the snipers, kill them in the first half, as they'll be waiting in the final stretch if you leave 'em alive.

Quiet can take out a bunch of mooks easily, but on certain missions (snipers, maybe gunships, etc.), she gets outnumbered and/or outflanked pretty easily and just gets her ass kicked. When your buddy gets too damaged, they retreat and you lose affection level (or whatever it's called) with 'em, which affects their abilities.

Ground Zeroes is super fun imo. Its essentially a few Subsistence-style missions in the sense that all weapons (aside from your tranq) are procure-on-site. Its probably cheap as hell at this point.

GZ is what I pop in if I want to get a quick fix without getting caught up doing side ops. Its like old an school MGS with a fancy new game engine.

It basically is. Tbh, GZ is better than PP, but it's very small content wise as it all takes place in one base.

But still very good. In some ways it promised a better game than PP turned out to be.

The bundle was Just on sale for like $8 definitive edition w gz and the dlc outfits. And ofc that was like 2 months after i bought def edition full price then maxed out my interest and quit playing. I havent uninstalled because i like winning the PF battles every week.

That game actually has the most fucked grinding requirements i have ever seen. Like the amount of precious metal you need to upgrade Lv10 weapons and such is legitimately insane. I got a bunch to grade 7 and saw no reason to go any further with any weapon. I will be damned if im gonna farm fucking missions or FOB for little ticks of damage that dont matter when 1 headshot usually kills anyways.

Heres a corny video of me playing MGO awhile back if anyone cares, its short. MGO is totally busted but it has its moments.

Infinite Heaven lets you customize a ton of shit. I use it to beef up the enemies and reinforcements in the open world. You can actually unlock the tank/helicopter reinforcements into the open world which brings some extra life to it.

Also can unlock events to play out in the open world (random mist unit attacks, helicopter crash/communication distruption scenarios, etc.)

The MGS modding community has also started to design tools that allow them to create custom side ops and now missions. They most recently imported the entire Ground Zeroes map into the game with working US Marine patrols.

And of course, there's good old character model changes. I personally like playing with an older Venom Snake myself but there is tons of different stuff in that regard.
