As an NPR listener, it leans pretty left.

If you want an unbiased news source you need to keep in mind news is inherently political. The best "just the facts" sources are going to be AP and Reuters, but some people take umbridge when the truth doesn't favor their politics

For technology, science, and some legal stuff pertaining to those I like Popular Mechanics, Ars Technica, Wired and iflscience

Bleeping Computer is good for insight into the latest cyber threats - it's not really a news outlet necessary but I like how they break down these different schemes, everything from basic phishing scams to secretive and intrusive malware and everything in between.

National Interest is *ok* at reporting on stuff beyond your standard politics, although recently I saw one of the least professional/most whiny articles ever about Trump complaints (people complaining about Trump) and that really turned me off to them. Well, I also saw an article about the Chinese Navy and it was just a lot of filler without any analysis. So I haven't been there in a while.
