To give each episode at this point more weight than individual episodes of television shows is obnoxious. I can appreciate the dislike for Episode II as a purely transitionary film that is forced to rely on the emotional weight of an actor whose best work was as a whiny news reporter who didn't understand why fabricating stories was wrong, but come on. Star Wars is good for a reason. What Star Wars, like Star Trek, requires, is a more regularly-dispensed, serialized story under the purview of one creative visionary. This is why long-term RPG titles like KOTOR or book series like the Thrawn Trilogy work so well. Characters are given room to breathe and develop, guided through the process by one consistent tone and vision. Grimlyn 05/08/20 11:32:45 PM #93:	star wars "saga" beated yeahhhh RoS was... long... and I can hardly remember what I watched beyond how dumb it was, with a mix of rehashed scenarios and meta nods of "this is a star wars movie, we're ending the saga!" which basically the essence of the ST, just doing Star Wars to milk its legacy without actually having any story to tell with it I actually didn't think RoS would be this bad, I kinda thought maybe public opinions of it was just a tangled mess caught up in the feuding internet battleground where everyone's taken sides pretty much centered around TLJ so you can't really know what to go on... but ultimately yeah it's just a very long, boring, and silly film to a pointless extended saga. ending notes: I laughed for a good few minutes at ~~Ben's death scene~~. Will say though the ending was a nice closer at least. It was better in theaters ~~after the kiss there were some fangirls nearby that squealed, and then immediately groaned in dismay as their ship sank~~. This, but I think people mean more in terms of stuff being set up in The Force Awakens and then just being jettisoned in The Last Jedi. I must be the only one who didn't like TLJ who still thinks it deserved the good reviews it got (albeit mostly because that was such a bad year for film), and finds a good chunk of the backlash to carry undertones of racism and sexism.
