And I also completed a replay of it in the past couple of years after first playing it about 15 years ago. It just never connected much with me, on either playthroughs. Regardless of Tidus's origins, his actual persona is ripped away from his familiar world (one not too far from being like ours) and dropped into basically a post-apocalyptic nightmare ruled by a giant demon. Miraculously some of his skills from his real life seem to lend themselves to surviving in this strange land.
