Well, they are different. Just because you lack the knowledge of what they are says nothing about me. An ephebophilia is someone who is sexually interested in someone during mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15 to 19. While 16-16 is quite young, 17 and up is usually legal in many places. The person in question in the topic title (as you told the other poster to check) is 18. Technically, anybody sexual interested in that person would be an ephebophilia. Though, in the end, it doesn't matter because the topic is talking about someone who is 18, which would make them a legal, consenting adult. If you want to be ignorant to the fact, that's fine. You clearly don't understand what a paedophile actually is. A paedophile will simply find children/underage teens attractive. A child molester actually would act on that. Ephebophilia folk normally find late teens attractive. Nothing wrong with that if it's legal. Youth is attractive. Maybe not for everyone, but for many. The real problem is when a society gives power to those who are older, which can lead to the young being taken advantage of.

I believe the mormon church for instance used to set up marriages, often between those who were much older (men) and those who were sometimes not even of legal age (although perhaps they were in that state).

From what I remember think I read or saw on TV, often they girls were not exactly thrilled with the prospect lol.

But outside of that, money/power etc has often led older men to have power over younger women, so while I certainly think that a true romance between the two is great, I hesitate a bit on the whole relationship between those two ages and genders specifically because it has been so negative many times in the past, and it's really hard to tell if someone ii really happy and in love, or just submissive and accepting their fate.

I certainly don't think there should be a law against it, but protections for the women, information letting them know they have other options etc, should be available and well known.

I don't feel the same has happened hardly at all for women and men, so such protections are not needed. That is not sexism, that is reality, and until things are equal for both genders, it is something that needs to be taken into account.

I have an embaressing story from when I was 15 that I have not really told anyone before.

So before I went to a private school by working as a janitor there at 15, I was working construction jobs and other similar jobs under the table. I was skipping school most days (it was worthless) which is why I eventually had to transfer to a private school (the principle wanted to send me to Robertsons a continuation school for skipping days and then saturday detentions).

Anyway that is besides the point. One of the jobs I got was working as a pool boy/lawn mower etc for this very attractive older lady. I would guess she was in her 40's at the time. She would watch me working and well I noticed that. I had not dated anyone at that point, kissed a girl or even held hands, and I enjoyed the attention. I thought she was really into me and she seemed to really like me.

I would have pretty much done anything she wanted i'm sure lol.

Anyway, it didn't work out that way, she did like me and well, she gave me a present one day after I was done working. It was a box of perscription pimple creame. Dude I was so freaking totally crushed. I handed it back to her and left and never worked there again. That was NOT what I thought she was going to do.

That was a bang up year for me and the opposite sex though because later that year when I was at the private school, all the girls lined up and asked me who I wanted to date (I had been chasing this girl named jennifer who ran through her apartment wearing almost nothing to tease me when I was over hanging with her brother. The other girls got tired of the chase and nothing happening and straight up asked me to pick one of em to date lol. ALL the girls at my school were there (Except Jennifier) and I was so embarresed lol. I even said I would have had no clue what to do if I actually caught her.

Anyway, that is the real reason I finished 4 years of school work in 1 year and graduated on my 16th birthday. Not because I was tired of school and not working (which is true, but wouldn't have been enough motivation at that point), but because I was so embarrassed.

I ended up going in the air force, and then when I got out at 19, I was not waiting around anymore and went up to a girl in a diner and asked her to sleep with me lol. It actually worked (I won the virgin lottery I guess) and I had sex with her repeatedly at a Motel 8 that night. I had still not kissed a girl, gone on a date, held hands or anything up to that point.

I was very dominant though wwth her, even had us both get breathe mints lol (can't believe I did that) before hand. She didn't believe I was a virgin till she said No, durring one of the times and I jumped across the room lol.

Anyway, I think of me back then and while I was 15 (which is not 18), honestly I wouldn't have been much diiferent at 18 if things had progressed normally, so yeah, I can see guys getting taken advantage of as well, but I can certainly see girls having a similar situation, only the guy actually sleeps with her, and who knows, he could give her VD or get her pregnant etc, shrug.

I certainly would have been down with being in a relationship with that woman when I was 15 though, and looking back, that would have been very wrong of her to do.

Not sure about straight people, but as a 31 years old gay guy, I definitely think it would be easier for me to take advantage of a 45+ years old than someone younger than me. Their bodies is not as strong as they used to be and decades of loneliness may pressure them to do more to be acknowledged.
