While businesses need a central base of operations, this thing shows just how the internet has rendered the concept of reporting to them as obsolete in alot of cases. I've been having a blast chatting up people, and selling insurance/customer service from my apartment. Uber use would passively dent my entertainment budget too, so that's nice to not deal with for now.

Note: An introverted bachelor, so isolation doesn't bother me as much as others. And...Imunocompromised.

Yes and no.

Like wfh depends on who you live with, and the space you have to set equipment. I think if me and everyone else started like that, it'd work fine.

Me just working off a laptop in random places in the house, sucks.

I've started to do therapy on Zoom so for my future career I see that an office isn't 100% necessary but still greatly prefer real life contact.

My current job is fast food so the pandemic didn't show me shit there

A lot of people dint like the idea of bringing their work home. I know I dont. Home is supposed to be a relaxing place to get away from work.

No exaggeration it has honestly forever changed me, I'm terrified of the day we get called back to work and will immediately begin looking for a new work-from-home job once that happens.

Yes, actually. Im hoping my boss embraces the work from home model going forward. Save us some money too not having to rent office space.

The core work i do in consulting has always been able to be done remotely but this experience only works when everyone else has to work remotely too. Once things get back to normal, societal norms around face to face interactions for certain discussions whether it be sales pitch, pricing, negotiation, etc. will come back and working remotely will probably be at most 20% of my time.

The main thing I need the office for is the printer resources. I print a lot of paper and Im not keen on buying 2-3 ink cartridges a week.

Yeah... It still probably doesn't mean I need an office but I'd still have to leave the house a lot more if I were working from home in normal times

This should have been obvious years ago. Which means more and more people could just live wherever they wanted in the country and stop consolidating in and around the same urban citys. Inflating the housing prices.

Lord knows that would help in more epxnaisive locals such like silicon valley, Seattle, los Angelo's or NYC.

No, I run tests on samples of rock and sand in a lab.
Technically doable at home, but I wouldn't be able to test concrete mixes.

I'm "essential". Bleh. Least I got work.
