First off, Im not an anti vaxxer myself. However, maybe Im just not fully understanding so hopefully someone can explain it to me.

lets say a vaccine for the rona came out tomorrow. Four of my friends get the vaccine but I decide not to. Now I go hang out with them but I have the rona. Since they are vaccinated, even if I have the virus they wouldnt get it correct? so why be mad?

I guess my point is anti vaxxers are only exposing themselves. Or is that not correct?

A fair amount of people are unable to take vaccines for medical reasons; not vaccinating endangers them.

If there are sufficient carriers it is much more likely to mutate into a strain which is immune to the vaccine.

The posts referencing herd immunity are just as if not more important though

You put people who cannot take the vaccine because they are immunocompromised at risk.
You put other unvaccinated people at risk by being a potential carrier.
When you get sick you take up resources from the healthcare system.
You allow a chance for the virus to mutate into a new strain.

1) More carriers means that theoretically, an instance of the virus existing in someone long enough to replicate and mutate into something that a vaccination is not equipped to handle, would be more likely to occur.

2) Anti-vaxxers choose not to vaccinate their kids and teach their kids these irresponsible behaviors. Why let the virus contiinue on?

Take your example, buy make it so only two of you get the vaccine. One of the ones who didn't gets the virus and the you go hang out, now the other two get infected when they didn't need to.

Add to that let's say one of your friends had a condition that didn't allow them to get the vaccine, and the other two are anti-vax. The anti vax people just got someone infected who couldn't get vaccinated, and who now might die because of it, whereas without the two who were anti-vax they wouldn't have gotten infected.

That's why the anti-vax mentality is dangerous to others

You won't get much help there. They'd rather sit smugly at their computer and shout out basic responses, all the while going "pft, uneducated pleb" without doing any real work to remedy the lack of education.

He says after several posters intelligently, calmly, and concisely explained it without any smugness.

The benefits of vaccination have been proven time and time again. On the flip side, anti-vax has yet to come up with one good or even geniune reason for their stance.

Because you could get the coronavirus, it could develop/strengthen inside you and then they could got infected by a stronget version of the virus that the vaccine has not prepared them for

Because maybe one of your friends is allergic to a component of the vaccine and they become medically ineligble to recieve it

Theres no legitimate reason not to get a vaccine to begin with except for the aforementioned possibility of being medically ineligible. The benefits of vaccines are well documented

Why is this so hard TC
