I liked the campaign up to the point where that other faction showed up and claimed the entire map that I had worked so hard to clear.

The gameplay was ok, and I think I liked the builds and gear more than the 1st game. Haven't played in awhile tho, so no idea if it's in a good place.

no, they added a raid that no one can play, and some side missions

Gear now comes with a skill tier (affects skill damage/healing etc), damage (affects gun damage) tier or defense (affects health, armor etc) tier. You can have a max of six tiers, one per piece of gear equipped. Each tier increases it's correlated stat values. You CAN equip various tier types, but it is best to focus on one of the three.

I'm skill build, so I have all skill tier equipped. Each tier increases skill stats across the board. Damage, radius, healing. Everything.

It's simplified, but I also feel it helped with optimizing your build.

I bought it and played through it at launch.

I think they did a really great job tightening up the gunplay and the world felt more alive, especially with the interactive ad hoc settlement raids which was a nice touch.

Mission design from a gameplay perspective felt better than the first game.

But shit when I made it through the whole game I just lost all interest. This was before the raids were out (technically before WT5 was even out), and I just didn't have any interest to grind for anything since there were like two unique gear sets IIRC.

Also hated the Chinese chat spam.

AND... the story was just utter nonsense. I loved the story in the first one, especially how you unraveled more details of individuals' lives through voicemails and the ECHO "memories", but the second one had barely any of that. And the mission stories themselves felt really, really weak, to the point where I didn't really even care.

I'm demo build with mortar and cluster bomb. I tried firefly, but the one I unlocked must suck or something.
