Republicans will tell those people to blame democrats for demanding things stay shut until they lost their homes. Democrats will tell those people to vote for them because Republicans don't care about them. In reality, nobody will do anything and those peoples' lives will be ruined and the rest of us will sit back in our personal comfort confident that whatever our existing opinion is remains the right one.

I could point to examples like when Republicans wanted to expand the amount of money set aside for small businesses and Democrats blocked it because they wanted conditions of their own added.

Don't sit here and pretend to like Democrats aren't doing their best to take advantage of this to push their own policies, even at the expense of actually helping people who need immediate support.

It's not like I'm going to change your mind, and at the end of the day you're going to do exactly what I said and sit back in the comfort of your home with absolute confidence that your take is objectively correct.

Republicans proposed a straight plus-up to the small business support. Dems blocked it because they wanted special conditions. Those are both facts. You can try to twist that as "well actually democrats were trying to help EVEN MORE when they blocked the amendment" but you'd be so full of shit you'd be qualified to be a Trump press secretary.

Read the quote:

That's exactly what happened. I don't know that the new conditions would have been effective, but it's clear a blanket check was ultimately just a payout to the richest Americans again.
