It's taxpayers' money, they already paid into it.

The money isn't for them. It's for the economy. The economy is in the shit, and they need people to spend instead of saving. That's why people on unemployment are making more money than people working right now. It's both to keep them inside and not looking for jobs and to get them spending money.

No fuck that, you know how how much has been taken from you. Its not like your 1,200 will hurt the bajillion were already in debt. My wife won like 3 grand off a slot hit last year and ended up with 1,820 after taxes. Sounds fair to me

Do you realize there are people that used to make $400/wk with regular hours that are unemployed and making $900/wk now?

If you make 20k a year you likely get your insurance from the marketplace anyway.

I made the comment because I happen to know 3 people that are making twice or nearly twice what they were making before their employer laid them off. They make significantly more money than me, and I'm having to put myself at risk and i actually make mid 30k/yr. To sit on their ass.

They don't want their place of work to reopen and I don't blame them but they got the $1200 too so don't expect me to feel bad about it because I don't need it. Fuck that noise.

If the feds are giving nonessential workers an extra $600/wk to do absolutely nothing (on top of regular state unemployment) then yeah them giving essential workers additional money to put their lives (and lives of their families) on the line wouldn't be too absurd.

Then those of us that are essential workers and have been going to work everyday for the past two months to keep the country running should be given additional pay for putting ourselves and our families at risk on a daily basis just so you can stay at home sheltering in place.

Nah, I'm fine with that. Essential workers are already being physically strained and most companies are not giving them fair compensation for their extra work.

TBH this stimulus was the single good thing the Trump Admin has signed onto.

You should definitely be compensated for risking your health doing essential work. I support hazard pay and increase of wages to essential workers. Where did I say you shouldn't? It's just weird to get mad about others struggling to survive getting a bit more than what they usually get. You also do have say in the government, it's why we vote. I didnt say right now. I'm arguing for extra compensation for ESSENTIAL workers making less money than nonessential workers because they lace their boots every morning and head out while the rest of the world plays Xbox.

Also we can't stay closed forever, but it is pretty apparent if you went from making $400/wk to $850/wk why you don't want to go back to work.
