They've been making the same basic games for longer than a lot of studios have been around but they still have floaty ass shooting, bad cover systems, random combat spikes with hordes of enemies, and they still don't know how to make a normal control scheme. Is the whole studio made up of writers and graphic artists?

Max Payne 3 is the best TPS in recent memory.

I think the reason that their open-world titles have sloppier shooting mechanics is because those games have to employ so many different systems.

The games are great but the shooting has always been garbage.

GTA and Red Dead feel like you're controlling someone via smokesignals

Because they're focused on developing open worlds, not shooting.

I think they did a half decent job with gta5 tbh, you shoot a dude and they go down like a sack of shit. The aiming and reticle feel baked in and responsive. But yeah, compare that to a dedicated third person shooter and it's a bit lightweight. But on the flipside, compare that shit to gta3, or San Andreas even. It's decent.

I think it's lack of originality and doing what is right because money. They just mix it up and are lazy and people developing the games don't know what they are doing. You aren't going to see developers coming up with something totally original that actually plays the way it should too, because they don't have to and really just can't because of what they have done to gaming. They are assholes. Game developers are like the Death Star. Same with the media hyping this stuff. They are evil. They messed up and sold their souls to the devil.

Max Payne 3 doesn't absolve them, it just raises more questions. This game was made by the same team in the same engine so why couldn't they transfer the mechanics right on over into GTA? There's nothing incompatible between good controls and an open world game.
