As for me, fuck no. BotW is an excellent game, it REALLY is, but...the same map would basically make it the same game.

Heres the thing. Botw2 will have the same map but the terrain will change a bunch. The ending of BOTW has Zelda promising to rebuild the kingdom so logically a bunch will change.

Yes, but it will be annoying. Great map, but open world games are about exploration, so even if they heavily populate it with new stuff there's no way it would have the same play time value as the original for me.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

i'm hoping they'll have a big underground section, as well as big dungeons that pop up in the overworld. there's new things in the map, but some of it is the same. since the guardians are deactivated, people start coming back since it's safe. and since guardians are gone, maybe the yiga clan is more active, or since ganon is back more of the traditional monsters can burst forth

would be nice if there was more interactivity with the world map. like, maybe tarry town, but more significant upgrades and reasons. rebuild hyrule town, people move in, get access to different things. upgrades, new abilities, more people, shops, that sort of thing

I assume such a decision wouldn't be made in a vacuum. That is, if the map is the same, there will be major alterations to the formula to make it feel fresh all the same.

I mean if it's literally exactly the same with absolutely zero changes, no. Or at least I'll wait for a sale (which will probably be years knowing Nintendo).

But I doubt it'll be exactly the same. It might be based on the same world, but there will be new towns, terrain shifts, maybe a new island or something. Plus they can easily add new things like proper dungeons in places that were previously empty. I have enough faith in them to make it feel fresh again even if they're using the same map.
