I can't imagine having to wear dress clothes just to sit in a cubicle all day

My boss lets us wear jeans and mostly casual tops.

My roommate still has to wear dress clothes for his fucking zoom meetings lmao

Cubicles are pretty bad. But if u have an actual office it's usually not. Because of the extra privacy.

I work in a small office and I don't need to wear dress pants, but I do usually twice a week otherwise we keep it pretty casual. My boss is cool like that.

Eh all the civilians around the offices I've worked at have had pretty lax clothing standards - like basic slacks or cargo pants and a button up shirt or polo, though you'd still see people wear t-shirts around. Of course if they were doing an important briefing they would wear a suit and tie but that was relatively infrequent.

Guess it depends what you want. Sitting at a desk all day sounds like a miserable existence to me. But some people want that sedentary job....

Even still I'd rather be a truck driver or something. Atleast then id feel like im out in the world doing something and not wasting away at a desk.

No. Its generic and repetitive but they're generally decent paying, not too difficult and have normal schedules. I'd take it over retail or factory work for a job that likely won't require a degree.

I havent been in a cubicle for years. I had one when I started off in my company but then I got an office that I share with a coworker. Our company is casual dress. Before covid, and tshirts were fine. Some people came in shorts and flip flops.

I love my office and my coworker so thats awesome too. We had our stock of tequila, candy, cookies and ramen lol. Always had music playing too. We had a TV and wanted to use it to stream shows but our VP was next door half the week and would drop in randomly to say hi.

Also, what exactly are you doing? Most truck routes aren't exactly luxurious. Its just highways with hills and dead grass. you''ll experience more on a 15 minute break out of your office. Its not like TV where you meet cool truckers at a random diner in the middle of no where wearing cut off flannels lol.

I love being able to sleep in on weekends and watch football (in non quarantine times obviously)

I like my job, but my bosses are cool and I like my coworkers so it might depend

COVID's had everybody keeping it casual in the workplace

I still wear my ties because wearing dress shirts without ties feels weird to me

Unless I have a meeting with someone from outside the office, I keep it very casual. Most of my subordinates dress up more than I do. We have a very results driven atmosphere so as long as you look mildly presentable you're fine.

it largely depends on who you're trucking for and if you're doing local only or if you're doing cross state. You can do interesting things that leave you with cool stories.

I know guys who do otr trucking for a living. Some of them do have back issues. They're also overweight. I also know a guys who don't. Sitting all day compresses the spine, there are preventative exercises to deal with that, you just have to do it.

And I, personally, would. Since chronic back pain is one of my worst fears.

With the right company, hell yeah its the dream. Ive worked retail and I never want to go back to that kind of work. Office jobs are the bomb, dont let movies and tv fool you. As long as you have an active lifestyle and social life. Would I rather be a writer or making movies or whatever? Yeah of course but sometimes you gotta be realistic. Ill still work towards bigger things but I am fairly content with what I do.

depends on your coworkers and your boss. i work in an office with 3 people and you'd think that's a small enough team to where there wouldn't be any problems. but nope one bitch does nothing but complain all day about everything work related and in her personal life and the other is nice but just watches movies all day. before these 2 started working there was 2 older guys that i got along with great. until t hey retired. -_-

Office job is a pretty wide ranging thing in todays world. You could line up 10 people from different office jobs and you might get people with 10 different jobs and responsibilities.

Mine really isnt bad. Could it be better? Sure. Could it be worse? Absolutely. It pays the bills and allows me to do the things I want to do outside of work, so Im pretty happy with it.

I couldn't ever do it. Outside of my teen years when I was a pizza delivery driver, all my jobs have involved a private office. I'm not sure I could handle working in a cubicle. Doesn't help I'm a loud talker which would drive everyone crazy.

Then again, I work in higher education and most universities are built with plenty of office space, so you are more likely to have an office than not working for one.

True. Generally though people who've been with the company for awhile and manage multiple people have their own offices.

I'd take a cubicle any day over an "open workspace" plan that a lot of companies were gravitating to before Corona.

There's all types of office work, but generally it means you always have weekends/holidays off and aren't customer/client facing. But you often deal with the same co-workers every day. Year after year after year. That can be difficult when you resent someone you work with.
