The pizza hut just took down all signage and put up a "Sorry this location is now closed" sign. Ive noticed a lot of these local places that went down are run by small families, mostly immigrants. Imagine having your entire family business nuked and have to start over from 0.

Lots of actual family businesses are closing down. That's terrible. Franchises closing down is pure pigheaded cruelty. The people who opened those places to make money for the megacorps deserve better than to be shuttered when they fail to please their overlords. The major companies have every ability to bail these places out to keep them afloat (and what good publicity it'd be!), but instead are cutting their losses to keep the shareholders happy. Yeah, yeah, purchases are going down and corps need to "think about future liquidity," but that's absolute bunk when talking abut multiple billions of dollars.

7 eateries, 2 barber shops, 1 daycare, 1 bar (bought out by a taco truck, no joke), 1 machine shop.

I live in a small town and all we have are local businesses and they are all open again. Do you live in a really competitive area?
