Current Events > Gonna start the Yakuza series on PS4 blind. Which game should I start with?

Picked up Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, The Yakuza Remastered Collection (3, 4, and 5), and Yakuza 6 all on disc.

Which one is the best of the 2 to start with? I know nothing about the games and I'm going in 100% blind.

Yeah, you'll miss little easter eggs here and there but 0 is still the best place to start. Kiwami 1 assumes you played 0 and continues some of the plot points from that game that weren't in the original 1.

Looks like I'm playing 0 when I finish my coffee.

The only issue IMO is that 0 is so much better than any of the other games I've played so far (Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, 3) that you may find yourself missing mechanics as you go further along after 0.

I'm not gonna go back to back to back to back all at once. If I play Yakuza 0 throughout late May and June I'll probably play Yakuza Kiwami 1 in like August

Recently started this series as well
Played K1->K2->0
K1 was a FANTASTIC game
0 was perfect right until the ending, which IMO had some great storytelling opportunities but they missed each one
Didn't like K2

So I would personally say 0 or K1.

K1 Kiwami is definitely the weakest of all the ones I've played (0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, Fist of the North Star). It will feel much worse playing that after 0, however 0 has the story beats that will lead into 1 a lot better than if you reverse it.

Go for 0 and never look back on this wondrous series. Kiwami 2 is actually my favorite, but 0 is right next to it.

Just finished chapter 1 of Yakuza 0. I'm hooked already. The first boss fight was really awesome. I love slamming people against the walls it's satisfying

Dunno where you got that from RE0. It straight up spoils the twist of the first game like 5 minutes in.

zero and call it a day.

0 is probably the best entry point, but at the same time coming off of zero to kiwami i was incredibly disappointed with kiwami in almost every way compared to the prequel

tbf Kiwami 1 was a budget remake of a PS2 game. Kiwami 2 is much better imo.
