He gets it. The Target that got raided? Everything's insured. The building, shelves, the inventory.

You know what isn't insured? Most of the people out there because our system is designed to raise the rich and powerful even higher on the literal corpses of the working class.

Looting Target will definitely make people listen to them.

Burning down shops and ruining the lives of innocents is definitely the right way to protest. /s

Seriously, whoever defends the riots should seek help. They are absolutely hurting the cause. Nobody thinks that George wasn't unfairly murdered. Absolutely nobody is with the cops.

What the rioters achieved is getting the people against them. The rioters are pathetic and they are tarnishing an innocent man's name.

Anybody who disregards an (as of now) state sanctioned murder because of a big box retailer getting looted can never be swayed, and simply they don't care about the black community.

Stop shifting the narrative.

The problm is its not just the big chains that get looted, burned, smashed etc.

Small local businesses get destroyed as well. And they probably dont have insurance.

So for all the people complaining about how they are protesting . Tell how would protest in this situation.

Like I said before , we literally had the President of the United States attack one of the most respectful and peaceful types of protest EVER .

When STL a cop is on video killing someone and planting Evidence, no looting no violence not conviction. Also this is the same said area Philando Castile was killed. People were peaceful then, we saw it was on video, and no conviction. But that's okay ... but not these people anger getting the best of them.

There's a misconception being made by this topic.

There are people in this country who view their hometown as "theirs". Theirs to steward, care for, and in a way, theirs to "own". These are the people who hold a view similar to what TC has stated.

The misconception is that everyone shares a similar view. The reality is there are people who don't have that view. Typically, there is some reason for this detachment of "ownership", and it can often come from structural and systemic elements that have put them at a disadvantage.

The people in that protest do not have the feeling of ownership of the City of Minneapolis, because a person like them was murdered by someone who was ostensibly there to protect them.

That says to those people, "this town is not yours". That makes it easier to detach.

Well. Why do you think that is? The pay is heavily pushed upwards towards the top, while all risks are held by the multitude of basic employees. Why is that?

I don't think TC is saying the murder was ok, and has repeatedly said otherwise. But violently destroying the place you live in ultimately just fucks you over more.

Protesting is 100% fine and I fully support that.

Burning down and looting is NOT protesting though, and all it will do is make the narrative in the news focus on that much more heavily rather than the reform America so desperately fucking needs AND harm their own neighbourhood when the businesses make the "common man" fucked over as a result to pay for damages.

I get they are angry, but we've seen countless times how the media and others use this to distract from needed change and you can see how they are already doing it.

Because rioting due to insurance doesn't affect the top. It affects the bottom. The top is hurt by the sales ,or the lack of sales.

I never accused TC of saying that, and tbh I have enough faith in this board that any non troll disavows the murder. I'm more disappointed that people are pointing at these riots, instead of putting attention on the police defending their own as usual in the face of justice. I'm pissed that the state is wasting resources on the police who are doing absolutely fucking nothing for the community they "committed" to serve and protect.

My hearts go out to the wage laborers and small business owners. However I'm not going to jump to the defense corporations like Target, Autozone, Wendy's. Nor will I defend condominiums assisting in the gentrification of these communities.

This shit kinda pisses me off tbh and sorry if I'm irrational.
