It seems obvious that their data is not accurate. They imply as much: Our dashboard numbers do include any death to a person that has tested positive to COVID-19.
That means, if a COVID-19 patient dies of a gun shot wound or in a car crash, the data lists that patient as a coronavirus death. If a tree falls on a coronavirus patient and kills them? Its listed as a coronavirus death.

We currently do have some deaths that are being reported that are clearly from other causes, Dr. Hutchison admits. We have about five deaths, less than five deaths, that we know of that are related to obvious other causes. In this case, they are from gunshot wounds.

the takeaway here is clear that death numbers are inaccurate across the country.

It's like calorie counting.

I don't think anyone is claiming that the numbers are exact. They are estimated.

But patterns are still patterns. Numbers going up or down or maintaining still reflect reality. Even if 5 people are wrongly listed as Covid Deaths and 3 are wrongly listed as something else.

The overall figures are still telling.

You think death numbers are inaccurate, consider case numbers. Logically, the number of people who had this, never saw a doctor, recovered is likely fucking staggering.

i firmly believe I am included in that group. In late January I, like so so many other people in this country, experienced a disease unlike anything I had gone through before. Im a healthy 29 year old and it certainly whatever I had in January felt like it would easily kill an elderly person. I know this is all total speculation, but logic indicates that a disease as supposedly super contagious as this one was likely around well before it was discovered.

When I say others in the country experienced this, Im talking about forum users, comments found on social media, virtually my entire town and workplace..etc. At my work nearly everyone got bent the fuck over by whatever it was in January. Since the start of the pandemic no ones been sick at all, even colds.

The state also has about 3,000 death certificates in their system that have deaths relating to symptoms of coronavirus. These are not counted in the death numbers because they have not been investigated fully yet. If all are actual coronavirus deaths, it would put Washington into the top 10 highest death counts by state (assuming the other states arent counting deaths the way we are). That would be a bad look for Inslee, and would keep us closed longer.

So, while I don't doubt they are counting a few gun deaths are coronavirus deaths, it looks like they are really undercounting the number of "potential" coronavirus deaths. Either way, the stats are pretty questionable at best.

Like I said, the inaccuracy nationwide could mean a lot. But on an individual basis, if your family member died of a crime or accident or negligence... and you have to deal with life insurance, funerals, obituaries, family grievances, etc.... and the official cause is wrong, could be cause for a lot of stress and conflict. Something grieving families shouldnt have to endure.

and the official cause is wrong

I don't think there's anything implying the actual cause of death listed on a death certificate is incorrect.

Also I wanted to rip my eyeballs out trying to read through that article. What a shitrag.
