In fact, moderation doesn't even come to mind when I do stop myself. Whether I "win" or "lose" in a discussion, I gain nor lose nothing from it really that would actually affect my real life. My ego might get bruised but at the same time if I am trying to gain validation by "winning" an online argument with strangers, I think I will need to question what I am doing with my life first. Sometimes I learn something new from a discussion and thank a poster for correcting me and sometimes I attempt to inform others based on what I know on a certain topic.
