Telling white people that reverse racism doesn't exist would be like telling Jews that the Holocaust didn't happen. When you deny that a group has been oppressed in any way it's always offensive even if the victim happens to be those privileged white folk.

Any race can be racist towards other races. It's not unique to white people at all

the ugandan government put were outright racist against the indian communities that settled there and put racist policies into place that caused many of them to leave the country.

Can't be racist without a being backed by a system to discriminate and oppress. They can be racially prejudiced, but they do not have the power to affect the majority's (ie White) social, economic, or political standing.

Pay close attention to how some groups treat other groups. Some groups are horrifically more racist than your bog standard person Twitter calls racist.

honestly i'd say black people and jews are 1a and 1b in the history of time.
you would think the two groups would find a mutual level of understanding but there have been a history of violence between those groups too.

So, no, that's BS. Racism IS racial prejudice. Says so in every dictionary definition you can find. Oxford dictionary even just straight up says "antagonism to members of another race." Every person at the individual level, regardless of background, can be racist. No "system of oppression" needed.

Thats not what the article you linked said. They show that they already have that definition in their dictionary, but will expand upon it to make it more clear. "This second definition covers the sense that Ms. Mitchum was seeking, and we will make that even more clear in our next release,"

The other definitions still exist, which work at the individual level.

People rationalized that "power + prejudice" angle when people paying attention called out people decrying racism for acting just like the racists they were decrying. It's hard to get activists to look in the mirror and ask if they're becoming everything they hate because now it benefits them. They'd rather try and weasel out of it in such a way that just leaves them looking upset they don't have power, while prejudice is perfectly fine.

Anyone can be racist. This is why having multiple words (and not just changing definitions) is a good thing. There is no systemic racism against white people in this country. However if I hated people only based on their skin tone, that would make me a racist.
