After you buy your Tesla, you can pay more to unlock the auto driving feature, faster acceleration, and even more battery life. The car literally already comes with all the hardware necessary to achieve this; it's just that you have to pay extra afterwards, and they'll unlock it via software.

What a time we live in.

I had plans to buy a Tesla in the near future, but I might just stick with my 90's sports cars instead.

The windshield should play ads when you are stopped.
The big ass screens in the middle should. Imagine that.

Tesla can also remotely disable features on you without notifying you.

IE- a guy goes on a trip after replacing a fender on his own. He brought the telsa in for service later on for something else, they noticed the fender was swapped and they didn't do it, so while the guy was on a road trip with his family, they disabled his access to supercharging stations and held the feature behind a 5 figure ransom so they could "recertify the car"...for a fucking fender.

It's piracy. Also, the upgrades are tied to the car, not the user account, so lets say you have a p100d fully kitted out, you crash it and get the same model, even though it's just a software license you already paid for, you need to rebuy it.

Tesla does a lot of shady shit.

For example, their autopilot was already done by other big car companies, but because it's not technically legal. Tesla just opted for the "apologize after the fact" option and put a realatively unproven and untested product out in the streets.

Also the covid bullshit, forcing their workers back into an unsafe work environment because $$$ is more important than everything else.

This is a common practice in many industries just FYI

i used to work for a company that manufactures hospital equipment, there were several upgrades that were just enabling a software option or installing a different version of software to the same machine

That's why cars like the Porsche Taycan are so important. Actual electric sports cars instead of a sporty toyota camry with bad build quality.

Yes, and it's anticonsumer of them to do that too.

The company wasn't Edwards, was it?
