Almost done with Knight actually, just beat Jason and am 92% done with everything. Actually going to get all the riddles this time. Doubt I'll do all the AR challenges because the tank ones are brutal, but I'll try to three star most of them with the four base characters. (Never got the season pass or the re-release so I don't have the DLC characters).

Asylum is going to feel weird after this but it'll be ok. I won't miss the complicated fights in endgame Knight.

If you're going backwards Asylum is going to feel awful, because its really dated compared to the later games.

Asylum > City > Origins > Knight

Batmobile is underrated. Sure they definitely did overuse it but the actual thing feels fantastic to use. Ever car in other games now feels like trash in comparison.

I think if it was just an optional way of going around the map it would be great, but there are puzzles everywhere and you repeatedly need to stop to fight these dumb tanks and the bat mobile combat is just so much less fun than regular combat.

Not quite backwards because Asylum is next then City. I think the only thing that will hit me is how straightforward the fights are.

I appreciate all the extra dialogue there is. Everyone in GCPD has multiple unique lines for different parts of the story. The villains are the best part, like Azrael and Deacon Blackfire arguing over who is God's chosen savior.

Anyway this watch tower with the four minigunners is some shit.

Riddler defeated. That Catwoman scene at the end was probably the most touching moment in the game. And also foreshadowing the secret ending I guess?

Love the detail on the models. Dent's good side has the scars from his fight with Catwoman, Hush has faintly visible lines from the skin grafts, and Joker's model from when he shot Barbara has a hankerchief with a lipstick mark and "H. Quinn"

Also this is my favorite Harley look in these games I think. Shame the writers didn't like the idea of her actually becoming more competent without Joker.

Yeah guess I'm done with Knight now. Completed all the races, said fuck you to the tank missions, aced all the combat and predator challenges with every character and topped it off by reaching a 200 combo with my boy Nightwing.

The most disappointing part of the game by far is the lack of challenge maps, especially when the game introduces all these enemy types that could make for some interesting combinations in combat and stealth. By comparison, I've put in well over a 100 hours into City in large part due to the maps.

Small annoyance, Square+X/X+A being changed from a wide stun attack to a "pick up weapon"/environmental attack move is dumb and throws off my rhythm.

That said I think I did like the game more this time around. I pre-ordered the special edition (still have the statue on my shelf) thinking it was going to be game of the decade and...it wasn't that, but I do still really like Knight in spite of the flaws. As far as the story goes, I wish it had done a lot more with all the characters it had, especially given the finality of the thing. Nightwing to me being the most glaring omission of important character interaction in a game where Batman is talking about this being his last night. And smh best Bat Family member Cassandra Kain only getting a voiceover cameo.

She didn't have to be a driving force of the plot or anything, but actually having her break into Panessa Studios on her own would be easy enough to write and would do a lot more for her character. I mean she captures Batman in the City DLC, and from what I know of the Knight DLC she's great there too.

The harley look doesnt differ from the previous two though, it just feels like a mix of the 2.

I don't know why mark hamill said he was done voicing joker when he came back anyway, for lots of different joker roles in fact. That being said I feel like troy baker did a phenomenal job in Arkham origins and the game is just fun in general, more arkham goodness.

But why was it even called arkham knight again? Was there any ties to arkham this time? Also how disappointing was azrael's story, literally just one of the sidequests. City gave me the impression that it was a much larger thing at play.

A funny thing was that at the time, Hamill said he would only voice Joker again if it were a Killing Joke adaptation. Cue the Killing Joke flashback in Knight.

Also Jason was tortured in an abandoned wing of Arkham which is why he picks that name. Scarecrow also uses the Asylum for the final confrontation and, if the concept art is to be believed, gathering all the villains together before the start of the game.

Azrael was disappointing like most of the villains, but the final part is pretty cool. I appreciate the multiple endings thing since it's true to the character.

Fuck it, bought the Knight season pass just to play as all the characters. Also bought Return to Arkham so I could have the trilogy on one console.

For me, the issue with Arkham Knight isnt that its a bad game, but I have a lot of stupid petty issues with it that all kind of add up.

Stuff like the characters looking different (especially Ivy and Catwoman). And its not even just different graphics.. like theyre models look changed outside of better graphics. And Scarecrow being completely different from how he was from Asylum. And other dumb continuity stuff like different voice actors for Barbara and Jim.

But the biggest issue for me is the way they changed how you select gadgets.

I know theyre all nitpicky reasons but, hey, at least I admit it.

The art style definitely changed dramatically from Asylum, I remember when Gordon was as buff as Batman. Also Nightwing getting a haircut is a travesty.

The only VA change that really bothered me is Tara Strong's Harley. She toned down the accent and turned up the pitch and it just sounds awful.

Yeah I think it was the way they directed her or something? I could have sworn I remember reading somewhere that they wanted Tara to do more her own thing rather than just imitating Arleen Sorkin.

I thought that she sounded pretty spot-on in City, but from the DLC for that game and on, she definitely sounded less like Sorkin.

Though the cloudburst tank fight was actually pretty nerve wracking, especially when you shoot it across the map and this thing speeds towards you and reaches you before you can turn.

As I understand it the costume can't even be used in a new game because the new game+ doesn't loop, so it's just stuck on a save file with next to nothing to do.

Catwoman done. That final fight is pretty crazy, thought I was supposed to stand in the center of the field and just counter enemies till the environment takes care of them. Doing it the intended way and just critical striking robots left and right is bananas, but I don't think it would have been so bad without the lasers and everything being the same shade of green.

Nightwing done too. Pretty solid, but of course left me wanting a Nightwing game or movie more than ever.

Robin done. Damn these have gotten short, and they've all had really abrupt endings that barely delve into the post-Batman world at all. I wonder if a follow-up game would see Tim as the new Batman, or maybe better, Red Robin?

Harley Quinn also done. She's...weird. I think I would get tired of the psycho aesthetic really quickly if her level had been much longer, but her gameplay is more interesting than Batgirl's.

Next up is Red Hood and then I guess the Season of Infamy missions.

I wish there was stuff to do post game in Knight because it's the best one imo. There's no incentive to keep playing, I mean you unlock the cool Batmobiles like the 89 or Adam West car and there's nothing to do exept beat up random thugs on the street. Like give us random predator missions you get from a police call like bank robberies, warehouses takeovers, locate important thugs to takedown and return to GCPD.

Red Hood done. I think I hate and love his gameplay at the same time, for the same reasons. His speed and power and lethal force make him a living bullet that tears through everything, which is so fucking cool and different from every other character, but this makes challenge maps a lot harder since he has little move/gadget variation and so he kills mooks before I can get any points out of them. In a follow-up game I really want WB to expand on Red Hood, give him more gadgets and special moves.

If they do a sequel it should be Batman Inc. where you play as all these people (aside from Batgirl ). Imagine how dope that would be.

dunno why people had so much beef with the tank sections.

they were pretty fun, not that numerous and not that troubling but maybe it was because i'm playing on m/kb and breezed through them for the most part.

You could also have certain side quests tied to certain characters, with the implication that they're all happening at the same time.

Just been playing the DLC maps. Dunno if any of these were free but they should have been in the base game. I can still barely 1 star anything as Red Hood and Harley lol. They just feel unfinished, which is weird because they're the only unique add on characters. Seriously why is Azrael even playable if his MO is to just copy every single move of Batman's? At least Batgirl has an excuse for doing it.

League of Assassins mission done. I chose to save Ra's, but I wouldn't have if I had known another cool woman character would die. :(

Also there was a Talia listing in the morgue but no body is seen (though they could have just not programmed in a body for her chamber). I was hoping for some mention of that but nope.

Season of Infamy done

Mr Freeze: I did not expect the frozen racetrack and the permanent(?) snow afterwards. Way more effort than most of the mainline side quests. And the ending was touching was course.

Mad Hatter: Simple quest, was cool being able to fight the mooks of previous games. And I liked that the subtitles show the wordplay of "Have you found you're Alice?"
Peter MacNicol killed it, as always. He's very underrated as voice actors go, have loved him since he was X the Eliminator.

Killer Croc: I've always felt really bad for Waylon Jones and this mission kicked him even more. Though I can't tell if the trauma caused all his post-Knight mutations or if there was something else going on. I feel like this mission in particular was originally intended to be part of the base game since mutated Croc is part of the ending's dream sequence.

See, I agreed that Batman would save him, but looking online afterwards led me to think that was an unpopular opinion.
