Whoa there! This WIDELY varies. Are there tons of retired mechanics in your area? Tons of mechanics looking for side work? NO local mechanics? Yeowza, this is a local, call around, ask-a-cousin sort of question.
You're looking at $80-$400. Just remember, under the table mechanics get more bang for the buck since the taxman doesn't know, and there's no law that says you can't fix it yourself so unlike house electricity or plumbing, inspectors never need to know. As for a face-slapping sort of price, just ring up the car dealership nearest to you for your make. I think it might be a hose or something. Haven't had any trouble out of it till yesterday when I tried leaving work. I pushed the clutch down and it got stuck. Had to put my foot under it to pull it up. This morning, it just went completely out. Like, when I push the clutch in, there is zero resistance. It's like it's not connected.

I'm hijacking this for my question: my automatic subaru has been shifting roughly into its lowest gear. It's not concerning it's just like I'm coming to a stop and I feel it gently go down in gears 4...3...2... BUMP 1
