People will look at the overall numbers and not see it, but they are doing far worse. They are actually about to pass us in terms of their peak active cases. Not overall cases, but the most active cases at any one time. They have like 130 million less people than us.

nothing lazy about requesting an expansion on a vague claim

perhaps our situation would be more like brazil

perhaps there are other variables such as living/socioeconomic conditions in conjunction with population density

the case study of utmost interest to me is how japan is handling it

Tbh when I first saw this topic I thought it was about the rampant corruption that caused Brazil to crash and burn somewhat which several Brazilian presidents were involved in

i initially thought it was about state complicity in the creation of magnified economic inequality and a side effect of favelas with gangs armed with military grade weapons

Japan is handling it well because the government took it seriously and people are more willing to listen to the government recommendations than Americans.

Brazil's leader didn't take it seriously at all and fought against attempts to control it. As another poster noted, street gangs are demanding everyone stay inside. The criminals are acting more responsibly than the government lol.
