I hate cops, I think they should be accountable. I don't think indiscriminately lambasting every single cop behavior and/or setting cities on fire is the way to do it though. I think it's gonna end real badly when Guardian Angel type groups start popping up to take their place, except with rifles and shotguns in hand.

Fixing human nature is not that easy. All our institutions are rotten. People naturally help those that help them, and hurt those that don't. Whatever cause it is. Whistleblower laws aren't enough to protect you.

Police don't want to work for a department that will charge them murder for defending themselves in a life or death situation. When going to work possibly puts you in a situation where you have to choose between death and prison, then yeah you're going to quit. Some of you in this very topic blatantly, studiously refused to condemn police officers macing a child and other peaceful protesters and then arresting and imprisoning a bystander that filled the police brutality. Some of you have also victim blamed journalists being attacked by out of control police. Your ideas of law and order are sociopathic and opposed to any concept of the police as servants of the public rather than an occupying force that cracks skulls maintain their own power and the power of their backers.

You can wear your bootlicking as a badge of honor all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you're acting like scum and defending scum.

Take a peak at any of the 530 incidents captured on film since the George Floyd protests began compiled in that database and tell me how sorry I should feel for the cops. Each of those incidents had plenty of cops around, none of them made a move to stop their fellow officers. I've watched cops teargas people who weren't part of the protest including children, they assaulted the old man in Buffalo, they've attacked medic camps, destroyed water supplies and milk jugs (that were okayed by city officials), they've intentionally targeted legal observers and journalists, they teargassed houses in DC that sheltered protesters after the cops kettled them by herding them to a dead end right before curfew, they've assaulted random people by pulling them out of cars and beating them, they rolled through residential neighborhoods not even in the protest area and teargassed people sitting on their porch. In every major city where protests have broken out there are dozens of videos of cops going wild.
Then on the few occasions where cops get in trouble people in the department quit or resign from special positions. Why should I feel bad for them?

There's little evidence beyond a few tweets that they're actually doing this in any real numbers. And even if they are, why should they be immune from mockery for proving protesters right? They want impunity and quit at the first sign that people aren't putting up with impunity anymore. I doubt you'd have a problem with that if it was a unionized teacher or professor who whined about the government finally cracking down on sex scandals in the workplace and threatened to wreck the education system in revenge.
